how come those jet engines are not stealthy ..............? any RAM coating, or else entirely made up of composites
The more interesting question is, why would you need a stealth transport aircraft? That's simply a stupid idea, because apart from a few that would be used for special ops, the whole stealth idea will just dramatically increase the operational costs and the US should have learned by now that you don't need stealth anytime and especially not in any rol:
- Comanche helicopter cancelled, because drones are more useful for recon roles and it would have been way too costly to replace the Apache with it
- F22 wasn't deployed in a single war since it was operational, was cancelled after just a few 100 fighters, because the costs went up waaaay tooo far
- F35, the next stealthy dream that turns out to be way too costly and they don't even have a real clue about the operational costs yet
That's why India should be very careful with our stealthfighter dreams as well and don't go for it for the wrong reasons. It is one thing to buy a Porsche 911, anotherone to pay the costs for gas and maintenance!
Wrt the C17, I find it interesting that there is still no official statement of Boeing to the price that is speculated in the media.
