. . .

Along with 156 LCH attack helicopters, Sukhoi-30 MKI upgrades, half a dozen AEW&CS, HTT-40 Trainer aircrafts, Utility Helicopters, some SIGINT/ELINT and some ISTAR aircrafts.

MK IA is not good enough against the Chinese threats, but, it should be able to do the job on the western borders. It would be a worthy fighter and definitely better than the older JF variants. Latest JF may be neck to neck with MK IA in few aspects.

If it’s radar is good enough, then newer missiles can be easily integrated considering our home grown AA missile program is doing very well. It’s payload and combat range would remain a handicap in the long run.

Overall, it appears to be a good way to move forward, till MK II comes into the picture.

J10 is hardly as good as F16 block52. if we compare them in "air to air", F16-J10 would be able to come near Indian border while LCA MK1A would hardly be maintaining its distance from border.

LCA MK1A is good on "air to ground" operation, and no less than J10 or F16 in this comparison.
on "air to air" dog fight, it would mainly try with missiles, with maintaining distance, as it would be bit less in dog-fight operation as compare to F16 or J10.

in numbers 280+, LCA MK 1A would be used to do its job within Indian border for its "air to ground" superiority, while air to air work is mainly done by SU30mki in AIF. the tested SU30mki, which may easily defeat F16-J10 in air, and cross border for the work needed in territories of Pakistan-China. :-)

Mi29smt baaz is good for both "air to air" and "air to ground" operations in India, similar to Mig29Ks. Rafale would be less reliable for "air to air" operations on CHinese border, i find. win in air like SU30mki and cross border? hence Rafale's work limited to Indian territory, with so high price than LCA MK1A? air to ground within Indian territory is cheaply done by LCA Mk1A,, which is as good as single engine Grippen, we find....

MK1A will be primarily used for Pakistan and will also relive Su30 MKI from the western border. MK2 would be used against China

HAL currently has backlog of 90 Tejas ie 73 MK1A and 17 Trainers
With a production rate of 16 aircraft a year, it will take them till 2028 to complete the current orders.
HAL has promised to increase the production rate to 24 aircraft per year by 2026,
but that would still mean that a second Tranche of 97 MK1A/B will only start entering service in 2028-29 with delivery continuing till 2031-32

The production rate has to be increased to 32 Aircraft a year if we want win export contracts and supply IAF on time, but what can you do about the idiots who run HAL

These are the same people who took 16 yrs to supply 182 Su30MKI, while Russia took 7 yrs to deliver 90 Su30MKI at a cheaper rate.

I dont see Tejas MK2 entering service before 2032
