After 6 Years, IAF’s Sukhoi-30 will visit United States next April.

US ambassador Richard Verma while speaking at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, Tamil Nadu. said the Indian air force would be participating in air exercises code-named Red Flag and hosted by the US in April at Nellis Air Force Base in the state of Nevada. India would be taking part in the exercises after a gap of six years, he said.

Near realistic Red Flag Exercise will be held at the Nellis Air Force Base in the deserts of Nevada. Red Flag exercise is usually held every three months for a duration of around two weeks, and it generally involves NATO allies of the US.

India last time had sent eight SU 30 MKIs of the elite 20 Squadron, along with two IL 78 midair tankers and one IL 76 heavy lift aircraft along with 91 officers and 156 other ranks. The contingent covered a distance of 19000 km after leaving the home base of Pune.

SU 30 MKIs flew nearly 140 sorties while the IL 78 and Il 76 flew 26 missions each at the last Red Flag Exercise and first-time participation of formidable Russian-built Sukhoi in a US air force exercise created lot of curiosity among USAF personnel and media but IAF did not disclose the full potential of the SU 30 MKIs, as secrecy of some of the systems and their operations had to be maintained.

Wait for another bs boasting at the end.......

This time our performance will be MUCH better
Now We know what Red Flag is all about

Even last time we did very well ; Our SU 30 MKI pilots are now more
experienced and they have incorporated the best practices from
ALL exercises over the years

That is with F 16 ; F 15 ; Eurofighter and Rafale

Iaf takes mki;s to usa. Russians dont get angry with this ?

no, they don't. because they know that india didn't release any classified info to US. IAF use radars of MKI in training mode in every excercise.

Hope we will use our AWACS also this time for near realistic experiences, after all most of the modern air war held under the cover of AWACS.

Why don't IAF give chance to other squadron as well ? whenever there is any exercise, we send MKI. IAF should give learning chance to others as well.

The other planes are Mig 29 and Mirage 2000
They are being upgraded slowly

They can exercise only with F 16 at the MOST ; they cannot perform well
against F 15 ; Eurofighter and Rafale

These three are the BIG boys ; SU 30 MKI can stand upto them and win

IAF shouldn't send aircrafts to win. They should send to learn.

There are Pilots who learn from these exercise. Pilots who fly Mirage or Mig, don't fly MKI. If we send MKI in each and every exercise, other pilots don't get any chance to learn from other air forces. So, I meant to say, sometimes it is good to send aircraft , not keeping "winning" in mind but just "learning" in mind.

Oh GOD ; Our pilots exercise with each other ALL the time
DAILY they fight with each other in the sky ; that is called training and practice
for keeping their skills sharp

All planes have a ROLE ; they fight wars TOGETHER as a team

In fact the mighty SU 30 and the small Mig 21 also train together

Absolutely correct, let mirage,mig29 and tejes should be allowed for such exercise. After all its better to get defeated and earn experience than getting screwed in real war scenarios.
