Rafale in India this summer, for the year Garuda

April 19, 2014

From Monday, June 2 to Friday, June 13, 2014, the Rafale of French Air Force go to confront the Su-30MKI of the Indian Air Force, during Exercise Garuda.

The four Rafale will be stationed at the air base in Jodhpur, in the Northwest of India and they are also opposed to MIG-29 "Fulcrum" and MIG-21 "Fishbed". A C-135FR tanker will also be present.

The last session of the year Garuda took place in 2010. At that time, Indian fighter pilots came to train in France, with Su-30MKI , the Istres Air Base 125.

This deployment Rafale will let the Indian government to observe and analyze the performance of the device Dassault Aviation, while Paris and Delhi are in negotiations for the purchase of 126 aircraft of this type.

Cross section of Rafale is very low. Rafale is also a highly maneuverable plane. It will be an interesting fight. Whether rafale will use Spectra??? is remained to be seen.

The results shouldn;t be leaked on this site or by the media. It will help your enemies..

In a WVR combat b/w to highly maneuver aircraft, the deciding factor would be who uses it's HMD first to acquire lock. BVR would be interesting and would give IAF a chance to test whose get better EW systems and radars

FrAF don't have HMDS, neither do the IAF's MKIs (yet).

Given that the IAF didn't even allow their MKIs participating in Red flag 2008 to use their radars at full strength I seriously doubt the IAF will push their machines to their full capability. Unlikely the French will either really. The IAF is pretty well awae of what the Rafale can do anyway because of the MMRCA competition. Only when the IAF inducts the Rafale and it is put in the hands of TACDE will a true picture of an MKI vs Rafale fight emerge...

@SpArK what is meaning of spark?
:D

If Rafale performs better then we could challenge the Su-30, 27 or its derivatives.

If we have transfer of technology can India produce su-30
