What's new

IAF cut orders for 5th Gen FGFA by Half, down to only 65 aircrafts

The numbers will increase for sure.. But these jets is due to depleting sanctioned squadrons...

Most likely these will be similar to 50 off the SU30K's that were imported initially, and subsequently MKI'ised. One prudent thing would be for India is to ensure India gets equal IP and manufacturing rights on PMF FGFA so there are no caps and design data deficiency.........

This deal will put now some real pressure on dassault

It will also give us a chance to compare them and DECIDE
which is a better plane

And whether we need one or both

And which plane we should invest in for larger numbers

We started SU 30 journey with 40 planes

And we will END up at 350 planes

I asked the same thing in mmrca thread, why cant we go for pak-fa instaed of french.some told me then its of different class at that time.

Anyway i am happy if we get pak-fa asap and then by 2022 start getting fgfa. I want to see a stealth a/c flying in Indian colors asap.

At the end of the day.... IAF needs to sit down with ARDC HAL, take AMCA, and just freakin get it done. There is a huge advantage at having your own platform....

First we will need to get LCA mk 2 complete

Government is NOT happy with the whole LCA mk 1 programme

DRDO cannot expect AMCA to sanctioned so soon

As things stand There is a talk of consultants for LCA mk2

That shows how much work has to be done just for LCA mk2

thus I said ARDC and not ADA

thus I said ARDC and not ADA

These are the achievements of ARDC from their own website
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ARDC has 13 successful aircraft Designs to its credit, ranging from basic piston Trainers to the frontline combat aircraft (HT-2, PUSPAK, KRISHAK, MARUT, KIRAN MK-1, BASANTH, AJEET, KIRAN MK-II, HPT-32, AJEET TRAINER, HTT-34, LCA and IJT).

Source Aircraft

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now how can they get to AMCA if they cant make a trainer

And how can they claim LCA as their design

ARDC can work together with ADA

I can tell you what ARDC has done, their turn around time on projects is probably 10 times more efficient on PPD than any other organisation in India...

They had to PDM the entire screw up of ADA for LCA, and the LCA mk2 and thus the LCA goes on the list, btw add ALH, LCH, Bison integration and MKI development to the list too.

I am very thankful to you for this information

This means that there is STILL Hope for LCA mk2 and AMCA

But LCA mk1 has been a disappointment ; no matter who messed up

I mean how can they NOT think of a quartz radome earlier

The radar was ready in 2010

So we should bring ADA under the control of ARDC

ADA was created to undercut HAL.... the thought process of IAF in those days was, HAL engineers are Snobs and MoD would create an IAF design agency... little did they know that dealing with scientists is even more difficult than dealing with engineers.

If both Rafale and Pak Fa are both signed, who will deliver first?

Pak Fa mass production not started yet..
Rafale, Egypt and Qatar orders are ahead of us..

i dont think we can pay for both at the same time

Armaments for Pak fA internal weapons bay will be all new , so it will also cost a lot.. we cant integrate missiles and bombs that are already in our inventory ..

rough calculation

Rafale 36 = 6 billions
Pak fa 65 = 8 billions

then weapons on both = ? 5 billions $ ?

Now I'm losing hope for Mr. Parikar. I don't think now he is a good defence minister. He is just playing with numbers. Need to do work on fast track.

french will diliver first but its not just5 billion for wepons what about 10-15 billion for training mentainence and feul/running & spare parts costs

absolutely lack of planning. what the hell is going on. Yes IAF will get alot of goodies but price at which they are getting stuff is tremendously high due to stupid inefficient policy..
with money they are spending they would have gotten alot more
