What's new

I need a new Flat-screen T.V. Which brand should I buy? I was thinking Chinese brand Hisense

dude, Panasonic don't just make white goods. And in fact, I am inclined to believe ALL of Panasonic white goods division were sold to China, because they aren't making money for Panasonic, the corporation. Why would they? They are't the best in that business, I wouldn't buy a Panasonic TV if I want Quality, I will get Samsung or Sony (I don't trust LG for some reason) or I won't buy a Panasonic Camera, I will get Canon, I will most likely buy a Westinghouse fringe (which is what I use) instead of a panasonic fringe, I will most likely get a LG washing machine instead of Panasonic Washing Machine.

Again, even so, that does not mean China own Panasonic as a Brand even if China brought all of Panasonic white goods divison, that does not mean China own the brand of Panasonic like you said.
China certainly does not own Panasonic. Even if the Japanese sell out the subsidiaries of Panasonic Group, they will not sell Panasonic Group. The Panasonic brand is very important to Japan, and they will not endure such humiliation. And indeed, Panasonic cameras still belong to Japan. Hisense is about to acquire Sony's TV business, and Sony's home appliance business cannot escape the same fate as Panasonic. So you can buy all Samsung home appliances in the future.

BTW: Toshiba's home appliance business is the same as that of Panasonic.

I was thinking of buying a New T.V. so I could play my PS5 and Nintendo Switch on it.
Nintendo switch...bro that thing won't even be playing anything past 720p why you need a new TV for that trash console. Ps5 understandable. Man Nitendo been taking a L recently. PC master race all the way

I have a Nintendo Switch just to play the Pokemon games. They are good strategy games.

I very much doubt Sony Home Applicance will ever sold to China, TV business? Maybe, not likely as Sony TV is making money for Sony,

One major thing in Sony Home Division is Sony Home Entertainment, which include movie production. And Sony Electronic, which include the Brand Sony Playstation. Both of which is cash cow for Sony, not saying it really won't but chances for Sony to give up this cash cow seems unlikely.

Sony Visual Products Inc (Which own Bravia Brand) have a +9.4% profits, I don't see how they will give that up.

On the other hand, I already own most Samsung Products. I use Samsung TV, Samsung Washing Machine, and Samsung Phone. I used to use Samsung Fringe too, the last one lasted 15 years.

TCL did not acquire Panasonic Group. TCL acquired the television business of Panasonic.

Panasonic Television Co., Ltd. belongs to China TCL Group, Panasonic Semiconductor Co., Ltd. belongs to China Xintang Group, Panasonic Sanyo Motor Co., Ltd. belongs to China Haier Group, Panasonic Washing Machine Co., Ltd. belongs to China Yunshi Group, etc.

However, other Panasonic products do not belong to China, although I do not know what Panasonic has not sold.

Based on the attached article you posted, the article says

"Panasonic is poised to outsource production of televisions to Chinese rival TCL, the world's third-largest TV maker, in the Japanese electronics group's latest move to cut costs in a segment where its brand has faded,
The two sides are negotiating the scope of the production contract, with Panasonic aiming to reach an agreement as soon as next month."

It seems this is more of a production contract between Panasonic and TCL, where Panasonic is Apple and TCL will act as Foxconn.

TCL didn't acquire the Panasonic brand nor their TV division.

Yes, this acquisition is really difficult.

Sony attaches great importance to the TV business. It seems that they would rather lose money than give up the TV business.

In fact, the negotiation between Hisense and Sony has lasted for seven years.

I don't think Bravia is losing money, they saw their revenue increase due to people stay at home more during COVID-19. As I said, that should be one of the few business Sony own that made money. The other being Playstation Brand and their movie making business.

Sooner or later, Sony will sell its TV business, otherwise they will not negotiate with Hisense for so long. Their disagreement should be only about price.

Well, I don't know, I can just tell you Sony TV business is making money, and as long as it continue to make money, there are no reason for Sony to let it go.

Does that mean it will not? I don't know, Does that mean it will? I don't know. I can't see into the future. And I am assuming neither can you. So it's better you come back and talk about this WHEN Sony agree to sell, no point talking about sooner or later.
