An Afghan soldier who shot dead four French troops has said he did it because of a recent video showing US Marines urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban insurgents, security sources told AFP.

"During the initial interrogations by French soldiers, he told them he did it because of the video in which American soldiers were urinating on bodies," an Afghan army officer said.

I believe 2 wrongs dont make a right. He shouldnt have committed a crime of this nature and put it down to this. I have however noticed the initial attention and arresting of the troops has died out. I hope, like this chap, they get whats due to them and are punished for their crime too

Dude if i have to defend my western masters, sympathies would be for american marines not for french people who are also westners(major arms supplier to india). A true indian is the one who follows logic and reason, cause and effect.

He was pissed that it was Taliban fighters that were being pissed on, not that they were Afghans/Pakistanis. An infiltrator exposed who couldn't control his emotions instead of concentrating his objective.

Its just an excuse..its not the first time that Afghan soldiers turned their guns on Western Troops. What was the reason then? Its a just a ploy to justify his actions.

French are allies of the US no? For Afghans all Westerners are the same, makes no difference to them. That is why the actions of the marines were so ridiculously dumb. Not only did their actions put the lives of their own fellow soldiers including those of their allies at greater risk, but also convinced many anti Taliban Afghans that the NATO troops are even worse than the Talibs.

This happens when NATO is supposed to be trying to win the hearts of the Afghan people, which is the only way that they can win this war. Victory can only be achieved by getting the people on your side, not by militarily defeating Talibs, who easily mingle amongst the locals only to remerge when NATO troops are gone. Defeating them with out the locals help is impossible.

While the urinating incident was very wrong, he killed French soldiers knowing that they hadn't don't it and it was the Americans. This is as wrong as killing some Uzbek person just because Talibs are Afghans.
