In Vietnam war, BVRAAM was unreliable and no IFF system and Vietnam war was 45 years ago. Today BVRAAM has matured and with reliable IFF. Things are different.

that is where the navy came out for the Top Gun program---. The pilots who trained at Top Gun school became very successful fighter pilots.

Now if you had searched deep in the gun fiasco on the Phantom---you would have learnt that even after the gun was installed---its kill ratio was hardly noticeable--. It was unstable---it shook hard when being fired---it aimed extremely poor. Actually the kill ratio was terrible.

Now why the gun on the F35 and F22---. The US cpongress is not made up of brilliant minds---as you would have seen in this Covid fiasco---.

It is made up of technically illiterate people who only know how to make a great sales pitch---. So---to get funding---the USAF and the Navy agreed to install a gun on these aircraft.

Instead of fighting with everything, it would be a lot better if we fight with a purpose and some wisdom. This mentality of fighting with everything is so evident in our human losses in every fight with terrorists. There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. The only measure of success for a terrorist is the bodycount and we gladly provide that in the name of bravery and fighting to the last drop of blood. For a change, we should start fighting with the first strike of genius and see the tables turn.

A smart operator will not come face to face but a purpose of a jet is not to run your self and save your own *** but to defend an objective and land. Yes sir you cannot understand this because in American terminology a pilot needs to defend it's self but in Pakistani terminology we need to defend our home land and we will fight till our last drop of blood so we need gun along BVR.
