Hundreds of Chinese and Bangladeshi labourers in deadly clashes at Beijing-backed power plant near D

Are you seriously starting an argument over the literal sense of figure of speech now? Talk about immature.

Try one of these: https://global.oup.com/academic/product/understanding-figurative-language-9780195111095 You are welcome.
Man you are dense as they come, arent you?

What, yet? Whats your point? Simply calling out a farce instead of playing along translates to not having any arguments anymore, for you? Reading comprehension helps. Or did you feel personally attacked by my first post? Sorry, I may be able to see trough ulterior motives behind a lot of bullsh*t that gets posted here, but I can't just read minds from a blank page. But don't worry I'm starting to get the picture here too.
ego and stupidity are a bad combo!

You say and yet you are brushing it all off as immature and of bad attitude without as much as an attempt of a justification (unless you are really trying to project the hurt feelings of selfvictimizing individuals here, that can't or don't like to deal with the truth, on entire countries). That tells a lot.
Again not worth my time so please stop quoting me coz I am not even reading more than 1 line from each post!

sorry, cant do. already mentioned more than enough about a billion dollar Chinese company scamming the crap out of the govt.

Which means you were just trolling. You failed to prove Chinese govt involvement, and now you failed to post your "first hand experience".

Where communication/language is an issue for Chinese managers, they should hire a local assistant managers who they can communicate effectively with instead of interacting directly with those they can't.

A few more incidents like this will lead to that happening, provided the Chinese are willing to change their management approach. Otherwise people will get injured and killed.

It is poor management, nothing more nothing less.
The U.S. in the big picture acts like brutes, tramples over cultures, bullies everyone if it doesn't straight out murder them, while blatantly lying into everyone faces and insulting them heads on. Yet half of the world are willingly kissing their butt and it has cheerleaders looking at it as an ideal and savior all over the world. And when you even dare point it out they will hurl only insults against you like it happend in this thread.

The people here dont even remotely know what really happend there and just take some vague allegations from an anti Chinese website and are already willing to attack entire nations for it. The entire thing might as well have never happend as so many things that website claims and the reaction would be similar. So its the issue here isnt what Chinese managers do to prevent these kind of confrontations.

What Chinese managers need is to get out of their shortsighted bubbles of naivety and idealism.

The question is why is China even blamed here?
Why is everyone including some Chinese being defensive here when no one has any evidence or proof that the Chinese even did anything wrong here?
The question is why is China framed here and who is doing it?
The question is why is everyone including some Chinese even blindly trusting the usual onsided narrative of a reputated anti-Chinese newspaper that biased towards to amplifying anti-Chinese sentiment, division with and inbetween Chinese and any domestic Chinese concerns while licking Americas boots? Why is some alleged allegation from a source clearly biased against China citing some unknown source taken for granted without further question?
How can such an overarching anti Chinese sentiment be created with so little facts and filmsy reasons?
The question is where is Chinas functional strategy to deal with this?

When China hosted a panel and Ren Zhengfei exchanged their opinions with some very brights from the West about future of technology, the the organizers did the usual "reaching out a hand" to show Chinas good side once again and invited the Wasington Post and CNN and those just did exactly what everyone should have expected and just completely disregarded anything they heard for half and an hour, didn't even mention a word about the mutual understanding and shared ideas of the attentees and just pushed their same old anti China narratives. Ren Zhengfei just honestly answered their offtopic question, only to be used to underline the next days completely unrelated China bashing and China collapse narratives, they construed out of some cherrypicked numbers from unrelated reports that haters echoed everwhere unlike the discussion from the panel. Why were these conartists even invited? How can they even be treated as jounalists? Who expected them to report honestly about the panel or even abuse it to slander China with loaded questions like the CNN henchman did?

Man you are dense as they come, arent you?

I'm not the one quoting posts he is "not reading" or "only reading 1 line" from only to insult the poster while making no real point. You can stop yourself any time.

There's the ignore function if you can't deal with open discussions and how a forum works. But why do I have to tell that to a "Moderator"?

Unfortunately "mr. trying too hard to be overly smart"...I cant ignore trolls coz I am the moderator - it is part of the job description of a mod!

Now kindly control yourself...1 more complaint against you and we will remove you...You are on your final stroke! :enjoy:

I can't image the technical limitations of the forum software and its configuration were part of the job description, but its not like I'm the one troubled with replies on a forum... besides that maybe you should use a personal account for your personal matters then? It's not like chasing posters only to insult them for personal reasons is part of the job description either, is it? Don't make me do all the work here.

But yeah feel free to abuse your position to intimidate and silence people when your rethoric fails in a persinal dispute, while gloating about "understanding" and "maturity". That's enough of a statement itself. I stated my points with so far unchallenged reasons and it was greeted with a chain of rather pathetic insults. Im going to continue speak the truth and call out bullsh*t when I see it. If that triggers some snowflakes, so be it.

PS: The discussion seem to have lost any touch with the topic now since you only answer with insults and poor attempts to get back at me. Bring it elsewhere if you want to continue.

What Chinese owners and senior managers need to do is to hire locals to manage the locals in lower level jobs. Front men should be locals.

Don't micro-manage operations. Order one local person to order the 20 instead of ordering 20 yourself!

Be smart about it all and protect yourself from getting a bad name when something goes wrong! That's what needs to be done.

Did a Chinese supervisor or someone like that murder or manslaughter a Bangladeshi worker? Is that what happened?

Sorry I could not find the story and didn't read through all posts. Someone please explain and we can go back to topic. This sort of behavior is not seen inside China and maybe very cruel people high up will sometimes behave badly but most are fine normal people. If this happened, I think it may be a example of racism or racist behavior. To kick someone or beat them for poor performance I am guessing.

@Nilgiri do you know what happened here?

So I read BBC and it seems like the Bangladeshi worker fell to his death.

Why would Chinese push or kick him to fall? I don't believe this no evidence speculation. I believe they did try to cover it up and not make the local people all know and further oppose Chinese backed development in that site and around the region too. But I doubt they will try to just bury the body. Most likely keep it quiet as possible and only let relevant authorities know.

Of course word and rumor travels and Bangladeshi workers got angry and one action after another things escalated to fighting and rioting and one Chinese worker killed in the rioting. All from one accident (most likely) and from allegedly Chinese organization trying to keep the incident quiet. Arguably not the right thing to do but totally understandable given how much opposition the projects have created in Bangladesh.

I think people are quick to judge and overly emotional here. China always the bad guy and evil. Everyone has their stories. It's always okay to think this way of Chinese ;) whites mistreating everyone still they have good practice and policy. China brings in their labor forces to build and do projects together is same as Europeans coming in to rape and shoot everyone. Similar colonialism. Some tame examples of Chinese behaving badly make these worms like Denel come out and say every Chinese is evil and no other human is bad. That's basically how he treats this situation. Pathetic.

Given it was full blown deteoriation into such a fight...I don't think they (Chinese) should stay there....too much bad blood and untenable awkward position etc with their local colleagues and general locals.

I think China should put out its side of the story once these workers return and give their accounts. It seems ridiculous that they got blamed for a worker falling to his death (and the accusation is the chinese tried to cover it up which seems an odd he-says she-says accusation) and a whole riot seems to have started over it. It cannot be the full story.

That is actually frequently the case in "further developed" developing countries that can adquately fill these roles.

In small and "lesser developed" countries Chinese developers often must bring even all their basic machinery for large scale projects and you suddenly want 150-200 positions filled by locals to manage other locals, when Chinese developers and investors already take on the bulk of the financial risks on while including large amounts of locals into the projects already contrary to the popular narrative. I coud talk on about how hard it would be to convince a profit oriented company to create risks of holes in the management chain. Its also not just a matter of can it even be done, but can it be done economically. Its not like Chinese developers are dumb and wont grasp such a transparent opportunity if it existed. But thats why China is usually there in first place. Yes train them nurture them foster them easy to say and guess what China has been doing all this time in one country after another? The entire long term strategic point of BRI is to create the basis of that from scratch. And it called long term for a reason.

But I dont really see how switching out some frontman could really prevent these kind of incidents or would positively affect the bigger picture that is drawn like here once again from the outside about Chinese relations with other countries (and inadvertedly influences these relations on the inside but thats another issue) anyways.

I didn't expect them to clash in real life also,After seeing them go at each other here.

Chinese Companies and China Govt should be extremely careful in BD when dealing in strategic projects. This Payra power plant and Payra port is somewhat got sanctioned by India and western lobby. Sonadia was essential for BD and had importance to China as well. They (India and western lobby) opposed the Sonadia port and stopped it. But became doubtful when they saw Chinese are dealing in here as well (Link). If BD people are paid well, they will work hard regardless. For example in Arab. But BD people are too gullible, short sighted and short tempered. They come to judgments so easily as you can see from some of their comments above. These Indians with little effort initiated 71 war on BD or BDR carnage recently, tricking these gullibles. It wont be a wonder if those guys with agenda paid money to some of the local laborers to spread rumors, initiate chaos and disrupt the project. One vermin from that block already suggesting Chinese shouldnt come to these places. His agenda is basically anti China projects and anti BD developments. In any of these cases Chinese shouldnt stop these developments.

Recently with the Uighur case in China about detention/re-education, there has been a big divide between Chinese and Islamic world. Anything that adds pressure to this case can break projects and alliances. But if they are that easy to break, there is a problem anyway. In terms of China, I know they want to continue with BRI and persevere through any adversity even when situation becomes beyond ugly. That's the Chinese way to struggle and march forward. In terms of partner countries, I don't know just how bad the relations have become but seems like public attitude is very negative while government attitude is positive maybe because they get paid who knows.

Whether these projects will be good for all parties, we will truthfully see in far away future. For now everyone has their own opinion and thoughts. Probably some failures amongst successes.

Which means you were just trolling. You failed to prove Chinese govt involvement, and now you failed to post your "first hand experience".
Naah this isnt failure, this is called abiding by NDA. Whereas idiot trolls like you are sitting thousands of miles away and are commenting on what is happening in Pakistan with out any knowledge of ground realities. your opinion is irrelevant.

In order to train low and mid-tier management, you have to have some kind of consciousness and awareness coming from the top. This doesn't exist in China because they don't know how to deal with other cultures since China is very homogeneous. Americans are groomed in a culture of political correctness and that culture was developed after many centuries of racial discrimination and hostility. China doesn't have that culture and the system is top down, where the government just basically lectures the people, so you don't get that type of awareness.

Anyways, the Chinese government has to realize this is a very serious problem and if they don't pay attention to it, it will ruin China's image in the countries they are trying to build bridges with. Many of the Chinese members on this forum are a perfect illustration of China's shortcomings in its relationships with foreign countries, many of the members here are brainless nationalists, socially retarded and emotionally tone deaf and whenever confronted with a different opinion are complete failures in trying to convince the audience otherwise because they are unable to form an emotional connection with other cultures, attack relentlessly in defense of China or they simply deflect by criticizing countries they think are below or less developed than China, like India for example. In the end, their behavior just turns off everybody and convinces no one that they are in the right.

I have been saying exactly what are saying but some Chinese members have taken it the wrong way. Thanks for making a good post. China is a major economic power. It really needs to speed up its understanding of other cultures and religions to become a true Superpower. Without not comprehending this critical aspect, there will be misunderstandings between the Chinese and the Local Population which will lead not only to conflicts, but will give other powers such as US to exploit this weakness of China.

1st its a bad news
2nd there is a big cultural gap between chinese and Bangladeshi cultures
3rd chinese government must not send criminals as labourers to the host countries
4th chinese government must educate their citizens to respect the local culture and customs
