Hundreds took part in a Queer Pride march through New Delhi today, according to The Times of India.
The event was led by India's gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community.

Alternative lifestyles remain taboo in India despite a series of legislative moves decriminalizing homosexuality and gay activities, activists say, reported the The Times.

Event organizers told India's IBN Live that today's parade was one the largest seen in the annual event's five-year history.

Protesters marched Barakhamba Road to Jantar Mantar with a huge rainbow banner. Some of them were masked and carried signs with slogans like, "Straight but not Narrow," said IBN.

India is home to an estimated 2.5 million gays, according to India's ANI news agency, but homosexuality was prohibited by law until 2009.

Even so, public attitudes remain conservative and gay rights activists say discrimination is widespread.

What a bunch of degenerates

i drove through a gay pride event in DC once.....those half naked sissies were blocking traffic while i was in a rush to get somewhere. Rolled down the window and flicked a half smoked marlboro at one of those phaggots

why does india insist on importing this degrading, immoral culture of "gay pride" type events

i often give the whole lecture about importance of separating religion and state (which I still do believe in most respects). But when i read garbage like this, I thank God we are an Islamic country.

Live and let live. If you don't let others to live, others have every right to not let you live as well!

And you think Islamic countries don't have gays? If anything, it is more entrenched in their culture. You can be proud of your culture where grown consenting adults should be secretive but r@ping boys in the name of bachebazi and keeping them as concubines can be done openly.

When Pakistan becomes the world's 2nd largest country in population then we can worry about Pakistan. Until then we have to worry about India. Population can also be reduced by talking Bal's vision of Hindu Suicide squads :)

This is not about having Gays, this is about celebrating them openly.
And Since when does Afghanistan represent all Muslim countries?

What I have found out is that the biggest homphobes usualy turn out to be closet cases (there are many studies, just google). They think that by being aggressive and intolerant to gays, people would think they are super straight. It's psychology 101. A person who is secure and confident of his own sexuality doesn't care about what others do in their bedrooms.
