GE to launch a biotech lab in Turkey by mid-2015

Vatan – World’s leading industrial conglomerate, General Electric (GE), will open a research lab in Turkey’s Istanbul as a part of its Innovation Center project in the country.

To be opened by mid-2015, the GE Healthcare Life Sciences Technology Laboratory, which will be located in Teknopark Istanbul, will host research on drug discovery, protein science, and bioprocessing to support Turkey’s expanding biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, according to a press release by the company.

Myra Eskes, GM of the GE Healthcare Life Sciences Eastern & Africa Growth Markets said: “Our investment in the Istanbul Technology and Training Laboratory underscores GE’s commitment to supporting growth in life sciences and the biopharmaceutical industry in both Turkey and the region, complementing and strengthening academic and industrial investments in biopharmaceutical research and manufacturing.”


The GE Turkey Innovation Center will be an interactive space where diverse ideas and people are encouraged, nurtured and connected to the wider innovation ecosystem across the country. The facility will have a strong focus on the Future of Work; along with an Advanced Manufacturing lab, an in-depth look at the Industrial Internet, a dedicated Life Sciences Technology and Training lab, and content and resources to connect people around the globe.


GE Healthcare runs its operations in the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Russia and CIS countries from its Istanbul headquarters.
