We should have done this like others did , first colonise all of africa , dont focus any on europe , africa easily invaded especially with one of the first gunpowder users , and cannons , loot all their wealth like the europeons did , with that wealth get stronger , use those people to fight for you against the europeon would be the best , look now africans love them.

Create public schooling like britian instead of being based on Religious athority (Speration of state and religion failed despite Turkish scholars advice). Failed to modernise the army, Still had the Christian Slave army corps. Did not embrace mathmatics in Artillary. Prussia had Fredrick the great, Ottomans had Incompetant Pasha's and sultans. Failed to advance in industry. Economic stagnation in the 18th century. The Italians started the age of enlightenment by trade of silk and Ideas from the Ottomans (why do you the Italians are not so anti turk like the rest of europe). Yet we never joined this age of Discoveries.

mate you read history from your backside? 1. christian army corpes was long gone before 18th century even before it was so so minimal close to non existent , balkan janisarries was only quite large in the early time of empire to increase army and soldiers . We did modernise the army alot and was very strong even by 1870s but the problem was economic , and maybe introduction of nizam-icedid could have been earlier .
