Huge gas reserves discovered in Makran

The projected depths are over 2,500 mTVD (+ addional sea column), you will need to move a big offshore rig to drill to those depths and a significant Wellhead and blowout preventor. The sandface pressures are going to be significant. This would be close to $100s of million dollar operation. These rigs are internationally tracked and commissioned. You will need an experienced drilling service company that charges $100,000s per hour and significant mud program, cementing program, then a completions company to perf', and finally a data analysis with lab services to analyse data, cores, cuttings and fluids.... Pak Navy is not that resource!

Secret drilling is not a reasonable assumption!
Since the opposite isn't physically proven to be true, I am still with the Pak Chief. They are no ordinary soldiers. They're fighting the highest form of hybrid war in all fronts imposed by the best in this business. The worst being infesting the highest offices of governance with RAW/CIA agents to kill Pak from inside in all avenues and means possible. Their most tangible success is to pushing them out and throwing them under the tanks!!! It's no job of the fools...

They may be a formidable fighting force... Doesn't mean they are a capable oil and gas drilling setup... Just as they are unlikely to conduct a successful manned moon mission.

Formidable fighting force != Miracle workers

We are all limited "experts" in our own limited fields.

January 2019 we will know for sure once ExxonMobil completes its 1st offshore well.

I think he is not referring to the same well or even same reservoir, he said along Makran coast. They concluded a survey with Chinese in January/ February 2018, I think he was referring to its findings. He made a mistake with 'discovered reserves', although they may have identified a resource base (or what SPE now refers as TPIIP) with bright prospects of huge discovery. They should let Petroleum Ministry make such announcements or find a better technically sound speech writer, to avoid such snafu.

"China-Pakistan Oceanographic Expedition

It was the first China-Pakistan joint oceanographic expedition. It is expected to promote cooperation on marine science and technology that would help protect coastal and marine ecosystems.

“This is a major breakthrough in the advancement of oceanographic research in the Arabian Sea. The water body has a number of unique features that make it an interesting place to undertake scientific research and improve our understanding of seismicity due to the interaction of three tectonic plates just southwest of Karachi,” Dr Asif Inam heading NIO told Dawn.

The geochemical characterization of the magmatic rocks present at the Makran trench has not been systematically performed before, which is what makes this research endeavor a landmark activity. Since the area of the Makran trench is the convergence point for three seismic plates, the geological study can help in the prevention and mitigation of disasters.

The other main area of interest for the team, according to him, was to assess the potential of gas hydrates along the Makran coast and to see how this expedition would benefit people of Pakistan in strengthening disaster management and country’s socio-economic development."

We keep hearing such news now every 5-6 months but nothing happened afterwards.

what are they supposed to do? Invite you to the digging ceremony as chief guest, and have you manage the entire OP?
Of course things progress as they should but why should they make a big fuss about it?

on Sep. 24, 2013, a very large earthquake hit Pakistan and this s island appeared near by Gawader sea due to high gas pressure

it is visible sign of a huge gas/petroleum exists .

I was about to post the same until i saw your post.

Such islands near Gwader do pops up after every few years which clearly indicates the presence of petrochemicals in that part of the sea.

First CONS got a job in OGDCL now CJSC also got a job

They are true Pakistani, not focusing on their jobs and are ready to mingle around in other's work

then why mentioning it again and again?. Thing is we have been fed that we have coal etc. We have huge this and that i think they keep playing with emotion of Pakistan. If we cant extraxct them out or use for benefit of pakistan its useless.

Mentioning so you know what you got if you start fixing yourself.
Otherwise, you guys go like oh we don't have this, we don't have that, we are nowhere...

any person who have gone to school cant say we.dont have. Its in our books.of social studies etc. But just look where we are standing now? Its better first we extract them out and then say we are sitting on huge reserve otherwise it will consider only words.
