Huge cars price different between Pakistani and Indian Market

Then, the dollar rate will have very little impact..
Do we have Iron ore and aluminium ore in Pakistan? Do we have the oil needed to make the plastics? Do we have rubber plantations? Do we have lithium mines for batteries?

There are below few examples:

Toyota Fortuner -

India -
Fortuner 2.8 Diesel 4x4 AT - 38 Lakh INR

Pakistan -
Fortuner Sigma4 (4x4 Hi) - 92 Lakh PKR (same model)

Suzuki Swift

India -
Starting Price - .5.20 Lakh INR (approx)

Pakistan -
Staring price -20 lakh PKR (approx)

Suzuki Alto
India -
Starting Price - .2.80 Lakh INR (approx)

Pakistan -
Staring price -14 lakh PKR (approx)

Suzuki WagonR
India -
Starting Price - .4.70 Lakh INR (approx)

Pakistan -
Staring price -16 lakh PKR (approx)

Toyota Yaris
India -

Pakistan -

There are many cars available in the Indian market with better features that price also starts from 4-5 lakhs... It is really injustice with Pakistanis people because of their government negligence... They are paying the high cost for the basic features cars also..
The difference in prices may be due a word we call rishwat, mithai, bhatta, hafta, bribe, khushi, chaey paani etc

.
they all actually have their own car but for a short distance, they use the bicycle or something..

But if they need to go somewhere with the family then do go by own car i.e Hospital...

You are just giving excuses.. in midnight, take an example if you need to go to the hospital then what will you do?

Car is a basic need for a family.. Poor families might can not but the middle class should be able to afford it... how and when need to use the car is another debate.

You Mean, father, mother and sister or husband and wife with the two kids ..... all should travel by one bike? Also, it is very safe?
Instead of American model, countries like India, Pakistan should follow European or Japanese model.
In US, cars are a necessity because public transport is inadequate. In Europe and Japan, public transport is much better so car ownership is not that high.

India / Pak cannot afford to have a lot of cars. Already the traffic and pollution is pretty bad. India is making progress with the metro rail network. Pak needs to work on that too in all its major cities.

It's very simple. In your country you build cars, even the rubbish brands like Tata we laughed at, have got a foot print. Whilst nobody rich will drive them, for the middle class and working class, they are a gift, affordable cars. We do not build cars. In our country cars are either imported or assembled after parts come from outside. In Pakistan car companies are willing to come and sell cars at the same high prices because they know there is no competition, no compulsion to build locally. In India they know that the only expensive car that will sell is one that doesn't have a cheaper local equivalent.

Strongly agree, we need to follow Hong Kong's model.

My point is the same-- Why not focus on manufacturing instead of assembling?

Then, the dollar rate will have very little impact..

Corruption. Politicians are paid off by big companies to never apply pressure to manufacture rather than assemble. PTI has at least opened up the market and encouraged other players to come assemble, under previous govts we were hostage to Toyota/Suzuki/Honda. That alone is not enough though - new entrants need some incentive to manufacture locally.

We cannot even compare our auto Industry with Indian industry which is way ahead of ours on various matrices.

I have always admired Indian business model vis a vis Multinational companies doing business in India. This Indian policy has contributed towards the growth of domestic industry while consumers get the most value on the money spent. Meanwhile in Pakistan, auto industry has not provided the value for money and continue to rip apart general safety and quality features in their products.

Honestly sometimes I wish our government would just import European safety and emissions standards to Pakistan so that these leeches either sink or swim.

Yes there will be short term pain for the consumer but in the longer run we will have greener and safer cars.

It is good for only Metro cities but countries like India and Pakistan.... small cities and villages... YOu need the car.

Traffic jams and other does not get applied for villages or small cities.

Not saying that cars are not needed at all. However, the car ownership can be and should be substantially curtailed by good network of metro rails, buses and share cabs.
Having more cars mean more pollution, more congestion, more land needed for car parking etc

Buses and vans are perfect for small cities.
