What's new

Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil is a rage in Pakistan, collects Rs 75 lakh on day 1

which is exactly what I said in post 22.

things will be changed in 2020. as only one group "cinepax" have plans to built 45 multiplexes screens nation wide by 2020. currently they have 18-20 screens.

Edit : 28 screens currently functional

why isnt dangal being released in Pak?

Same is my Question. why ?
despite the rise and fall in relations of both countries. we should show the "quality work" of opposite country.

thats a risky investment... unless the owners have means to influence govt...

a small cinema industry of 100 screens can not influence government.

but a 200 screens cinema industry can. so let them expand. things are only moving in a good path. future is bright. :-)

Consider the time and place of the movie waar and that too, when the economy was in shambles due to wot. On top on that, the movie was in English so only English speaking Pakistanis saw it. Even then it broke big records. The producer of waar even said that had he known the outcome would be this good, he would've made the movie in urdu. There is no comparison between the two here!

It does look like only the elites in your country can afford those ticket prices and you cater to those who can afford it.

Is it true that your ticket prices are from PKR 700 and above?? Here in India it ranges from Rs 50 to 400.

I think because in the movie, Aamir Khan daughters win gold for India in the commonwealth games.

Thats why it wont show in Pakistan

Not 700, not even close. More like 300. Also most people can afford can go to movies, not just the elite. But waar was made in English for various reasons. Most movies made are in urdu.

We can expand even without taking help from India. we have resources. need of the hour is to show the quality work of both countries in each other.

highly unlikely... if by India you mean bollywood.
Movie seats are perishable commodity, if you did not sell it, well its gone. For a theatre to make money, they need steady supply of movies, that will keep the buzz, bring in patrons continuously.
If you release only 10 or 15 movies per year, you will barely be able to break even. You will need to increase the cost per ticket but then it also means you need to make family friendly movies not gujjar series.(families can spend more)
Families will come to mall, watch together, eat popcorn/drink cola(another income source)... they are also attracted by good facilities you provide(clean toilet, clean seats without bedbugs, good crowd like themselves)... its all tied together.
btw noob question, how many movies pakistan film industry made last year.(that can actually run in multiplex)?

You got me wrong sir. first sentence of my post was regarding "technical help" .

the second part was regarding "showing movies of both countries in each other countries." so in simple words. i said it's OK and necessary to show Indian movies in Pakistan. and maybe it's not necessary for India to show Pakistani movies in India , but for Pakistan it is.
so in both situations. it's the Pakistan who will benefit ,first by showing Indian movies in Pakistan. and second, by releasing it's movies in India.

@Zibago can answer this question. i can only make a guess. and it was , i think 19.

There are other reasons, the producers are asking for more return and the multiplex owners in Pakistan are not ready to share it. Plus Dangal is pro-women & pro-India movie which will affect many Pakistani citizens.

What if they sing "Jan Gan Man" at the end ??? :enjoy:

Plus due to recent controversial statement Amir has to prove his patriotism.

oh.. I got it wrong..
Indians have nothing to teach technically.. I have seen trailers of some pakistani movies.. technically very sound. Obviously if you get bigger budget, you have more resource to invest, better special effects, better stunts... etc.
yeah, I think we should watch pakistani movies too, especially the ones that shows nuances of pakistani culture... it will broaden our horizon.. currently we got only bollywood and hollywood(in our theatres).... not even iranian or turkish or korean movies.

Go for Kaabil, Raees is another bollywood masala with fake swag of SRK, and they have put Nawaz to just show that they have one person in the movie who is actually acting.

Hrithik has done all he can in this movie.
