How will General Raheel Sharif be viewed after retirement.

Punishment LOLZ.

Expression of displeasure and retirement with all benefits intact is indeed a huge punishment. Well done Raheel Sharif

You have laid down a shining example of accountability.

I agree to this point. This is not Raheel Sharif's job to hold civilians accountable for corruption.
I think living the rest of your life known as a corrupt officer can be called punishment specially when you move around in army circles and have held a high rank. I don't remember this happening in the past.
i have noticed a general pattern - columnists fall over the feet to praise existing army chiefs and are vicious towards anyone who has retired
Majority of the public does not read columns. There is a general sense of admiration for raheel sharif. People think if it wasn't for him our country would have been in Taliban's control by now.

.
He punished high ranked army personnel for corruption. That was a great example for the army chiefs to come. As far as corruption and terrorism is concerned, the forces played their role in getting a lot of big fishes arrested such as dr asim, ayan ali etc but now its the duty of judiciary to punish them. If they walk free then we obviously have a malfunctioning judiciary and political system.

But dr asim and ayan ali were only the begining... Infact he made those statements, publicly , much aftre these two arrests were amde... I think he wanted to, but couldnt do it.. Thts why i think he should have been more careful before giving these statements, because he raised our expectations very high.. Most recently, on 6th sep sefence day this yr too, he again said peace cant come without eliminationg corruption.. He kept saying these things, but couldnt follow up, with his actions..
Other than this, i think he did a brilliant job.. Esp being from karachi, i am very grateful to him, for restoring peace in karachi
But its only his anti corruption drive, where i expected much more from him, but he couldnt deliver, for whatever reasons

i do not see how a rag tag force like the taliban can beat the pakistani army and take over the country
maybe the pakistani public is seeing something I do not

.
conspiracies & corruption scandals will come out from nowhere by jumhooriyat ke rakhwaales...

best thing since sliced bread/garlic naan. :P

seriously though, its all set up perfectly for him to enter politics, a president Raheel Sharif could make Pakistan great again.
we don't want to be GREAT. we just want to live peacefully as a progressive nation. but hamari phooti qismat ke hamain dehati aurat naseeb hoi paros main.

Have a GREAT time.

You are right in a way corruption is a major issue that stays unattended. Your expectations were a bit too high from the chief of army staff. But since he mentioned it himself so many times, there should have been more steps taken in eradication of corruption, but, by the relevant authorities.

He chose democracy over Adhocism in Pakistan. Putting behind bars these thugs is no big deal if you bring in martial law but what next? The system needs to be improved and these short term measures are counter productive .Good change from Meaningless and superficial bravado of Musharaf.

First of all I have my doubts that General Raheel Shareef will just disappear or fizzle out after his suppose to be retirement date of November 29, 2016. After long time Pakistan Army has got a chief with his imposing personality as well as determination and sense of purpose. In my opinion such person is bound to make an impact in our future scenario as well , in some capacity. May be he will get extension as current hot border situation demand that command of Army should not be changed . Or he may be given strategically important task for example looking after CPEC development as China trust him more then Civilian authorities. I would not be surprised that we may see General Raheel Shareef becoming President of Pakistan in near future .............from 2018 onwards ........and if such scenario built up he will be a powerful President of Pakistan and not a Mamnoon Hussain kind !

In any case he will be remembered in positive way in history of Pakistan and with much better words as compared to Musharraf and Kiyani !!!

That is not punishment. Would you be okay with other people like corrupt government employees e.g. receiving such punishment?

.
That wasn't his job. His job was to eliminate terrorism and he succeeded in that. We have other relevant institutions for political accountability. We have NAB, we have judiciary, we have anti corruption departments. If everything is to be done by the army why do we spend money on these useless institutions?
Common man ... Why behaving so childish ... If you are interpreting everything by legal status than all praises must be to Nawaz Sharif the great caliph ... Raheel sharif is just one of the officer in his who dont even report directly to nawaz sharif hence a third level officer ... Will you accept this argument of mine ?

What do you expect from these bunch of rats ? Nab chairman appointed by NS and Kurshid shah will investigate panama case ? Joke of the day ...

Raheel shareef has done a remarkable job and gteatest general in history of Pakistan ... But man has to be judged based on authorities and caliber ... Raheel Shareef has a lot of power and support from masses ... His caliber is of no match .. He have to Nishan.e.Haider in hus home ... He raised expectations if people of Pakistan by grabbing Dr. Asim ... But then what ? Case is no where and after sometime Dr.Asim will be set free from all charges ...

Raheel Dharif mandate given by constitution is much lower .. But mandate given by people of Pakistan was to eliminate all rats from Pakistan which uptill now he has failed to do

Having said this ... I acknowledge that whatever he has already done Pakistan in these few years was only a dream 2.5 years back ...

So he has done a remarkable job but still few imp tasks are still pending ...

President of Pakistan has no legal power nor any support from army or any other institution ... So its better not to accept useless position of president by such a great personaltiy

.
Greatest Punjabi General and thorough Gentlemen ever, this is how a Punjabi should be....this is how a Pakistani should be.

. .
I hope his policies and firm attitude last long and affected the Pak-Army high level command also.
