How true? Gen Kyani Warning conveyed to Israel!

Gen Kyani conveyed his warning to USA/ Israel about possbile terrorist attacks on Israelis in India
(old clip but still interesting and relevant)

I dont recall this being discussed here.According to this News clip
Gen Kyani conveyed Americans about the danger of Israelis in India being targeted by terrorists


the report builds up the background based on Mumbai attacks where some Israeli civilians were killed by the terrorists. then an "expert"gives his views about the significance of a General of Pakistan army taking it up with Americans and Israelis but he makes a mistake at about 2:30 of the video where he says that Pakistan and Indian army dont have any direct communication. he better check what DGMO means and what does the hotline mean. even forget that he should check what flag staff meetings mean at the border. although this error has no relevance or bearing on the news but just makes his "expertise" a bit shaky.

have a heart Indians, I am sure he will be a very honest and able man so dont take it a wrong way and start an emotional yatra against me. it was necessary to point this mistake out because even the news caster didnt correct that out of courtesy or she was as clueless as he was.


now coming back to the story we can spin it two ways


the Positive side:

-A good initiative by an Army General of Pakistan. since Pakistan army is seen as far more conservative and hostile towards Israel due to influence of the Islamists.

-it shows that he is responsible commander and is doing so in the interest of his own country and others by warning all about this attack instead of just sitting back.

-even without any military or diplomatic relations, Gen Kyani finds it important to give the headsup to Israelis and views the terrorists as common enemy.

-he wants to normalize the relations with Israel on a single point agenda of defeating the Islamist terrorists that are universal enemies of everyone.

the Negative Side:

- he is a Zionist and American Slave

- He is scared that Pakistan will suffer through military response from India/ Israel or America

- He is just scaremongering Israelis and Indians

-He is confessing that he is involved in terrorist attacks.

I am personally pleased that Gen Kyani took that initiative and views the terrorists as a common enemy of Pakistan and rest of the world.

I think Kayani was spot on! If you remember, four people, including the wife of an Israeli diplomat, were injured when an explosion wrecked a car which had a diplomatic number plate in New Delhi in Feb this year!

Secondly, I agree with you as regards the communications part. There is a direct hot line between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan if not between the chiefs. However, I wonder if this information was passed on to the Indian DGMO by his Pakistani counterpart?

valid question and I cant be certain
when we have troops movements, our near future exercises and any up coming tests , including firing incidents we have DGMO communication (meaning what is really going to happen)

since we have full diplomatic relations, my guess is that either the Indian Embassy or Indian Interior ministry/ defence would have been appraised about such attacks. because its illogical to bypass India and only tell Israel/ USA when they cant do much when the Israelis are actually in India.

I have always felt Gen. Kayani was decent guy, but still it was hard to believe he did tipped off about the attack on Israelis..
There was also some article before which said Israeli spies were in pakistan to fight SU in 80's...
But still after Kayani, every will be a Zia product, hence more Radicalised...

Gen Zia used whatever tools & methods he had to convince the Pakistani public and his army in order to sell the Afghan Jihad. it would have been Gen Baig or anyone else for that matter that Army would have been radicalised just like the rest of the country did.
but mind you, do consider Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Bahrain when you talk about religious influence in military and Government they are as much radicalised if not more but still they are staunch USA allies.

radicalization dosnt cloud judgement or national interests and international relations (it hasnt for Saudis and Americans did it) so its bit relivant regarding Gen Kyani's approach towards extremists. the Islamist terrorists by their own definition and repeated disclaimers have declared war with all the Islamic and non-Islamic governments so there is no love lost by sharing information with USA and Israel.

people in the army might have a religious view but its strictly personal and can never ever affect how the army operates. this is why there are no exceptions and no concessions when dealing with officers influenced by Hizb-ut Tahrir.

there is also a big following of Musharraf which one shouldn't dismiss if one wants to still refer to Gen Zia who has died for almost 3 decades now.

radical or left winger, A military of any country is meant to defend and look after its interests and faith doesnt come in the way. and that is true for Pakistan army, since the WoT there have been a lot of change among the military and intel brass (not just the heads, but actual commanders directly involved in the fight) and the focus and mission has remained the same since Musharraf to Kyani and will remain after him as well.

this small news clip is just one indication. behind all the Bernardo and chest thumping by the politicans. the actual people who are involved in this war are keeping in touch, this is why when it comes to score of AQ vs the rest, AQ is not doing very well there. Americans might want us all to make it appear as a one man show just like their blockbusters show them saving the world from the ultimate doom but its a combined effort.

these positive reports will always escape the attention because Panetta's warning have more juice to them and can be spinned in differnt ways to generate a lot of interest.

I donot know why but Pakistan has produced pretty good Army chief at the time of Civiliian regime who are good and smart wrt to building relationship with India....The classic example is Musharaf and now Kiyani.
