How the Gas Station cheat people while filing Gas in vehicles

This might have happened to You and might have happened with me. The term "Chindi Chor" has virtually been taken to a new level. This is happening all over South Asia for sure.

Don't be so naive use your common sense. I don't know how this machine works but there is a motor running beneath it and producing a lot of sound so it can't be part of that machine.

Whatever the case is but counter is running with no fuel flowing through nozzle. Thats the main point of concern. Plus every refueling nozzle is connected with its motor in each individual dispensing unit. When that motor in that dispensing unit turns its starts flowing the fuel and so runs the counter along. These dispensing units are designed not to perform dry run when there is no fuel flowing through nozzles. Here counter is running but no fuel flowing.

Nah - unless you are an idiot you can compare what the pump says it has supplied to the fuel meter in your car.
Also you can feel the fuel flowing through the pipe but obviously cannot tell the exact amount that is flowing at any moment.

Looks like the flow sensor(valve) is busted as it shouldn't work when there no fuel. People used to rig the flow encoders to dispense less fuel but those days are gone as most of them are being replaced by automated fuel dispenser.Everything is done by regional office through Intranet( for Indian Oil stations) and the pump owner is only responsible for dispensing fuel and collecting the cost.

There are many other ways to cheat other than adulteration.
One favorite is no resetting the counter. Next one is removing the filler nozzle immediately and with holding petrol in delivery pipe. By the way more you fill worse the cheating. Problem is not only with petrol pumps as these vehicles dont come with exact fuel gauge. those dials will always show full or half but not how much.

I would always prefer US style self serve model.
