The following video is worth watching in entirety to get an insight into the mind of a seemingly dynamic and visionary Science and Technology minister Fawad Chaudhry. Especially interesting is to watch after minute 6:30. Fawad is mincing no words in saying that Pakistan is left far behind India in IT and that the actions of Pakistan's judiciary, especially of the retired CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry has cost Pakistan 'billions of dollars' and '$300 million in lawyers fees alone'. According to Fawad, banning of global companies' apps alone cost Pakistan a lot and some business shifted to India etc as a result. Fawad is also condemning the macho Pakistani policies about global companies as if Pakistan is such a big player while Pakistan is nothing!
Some harsh comments and about time truth be told and call a spade a spade! While Pakistan begs $2 billion from Saudi Arabia to rescue Pakistan's economy the internal turmoil are the ones which should be plugged up because they cost billions.
Coming to the this thread's topic of dirty politics. When the idiotic Messianic Justice Chaudhry defied Musharraf in 2007, the entire Pakistani society rose against Musharraf! PPP, PMLN, PTI, the Mullahs and all in between with the exception of MQM. It didn't matter to them that Justice Chaudhry might be on the wrong side. All they wanted was power! And so the Pakistan, which had enjoyed a level of stability and prosperity from 1999-2007 turned into a battlefield. Add in the support for the Lal Masjid goons by a vocal segment of the Pakistan society and Pakistan literally suffered BILLIONS $ in losses.
And so today, ministers after ministers of the PTI govt are nostalgic about where Pakistan was under Musharraf by 2008 and where it ended up. Honest admissions considering that Imran Khan himself went aggressive against Musharraf.
Morale of the story: As I have been repeatedly saying on PDF: No point wasting energy on trying to make PPP and PMLN cough up money or jail their leadership. Get what you can get out of them. Exile them. Give NRO. Whatever But don't lose the current stability in Pakistan. Pakistan is on a path of growth and that should not be affected for at least 10 years.
