And since Pakistan is a democracy I will certainly support any candidates who believe in freedom of religion.

In free societies you can fly what ever flag you want, including the confederate... a "nation" that the US fought a civil war with.
There are states in the US where the local governments fly the confederate flag.

And in Vietnam (and I believe in China too) you can praise liberal democracy but I doubt you can do so as freely to communism in the US. A lot of my pro-China or pro-communism comments on mainstream Western media were deleted and then my accounts were locked, although my words were selective and no offence to anyone.

But the point is not about freedom per se. Many Western democracies are worrying about fake news and trying to limit the access to untruthful sources. The point is how to govern so that societies can develop in peace and harmony for long run, to the benefit of mass majority, not to some individuals.

There is no magic behind the term of "democracy". It doesn't gurantte you the "freedom" nor progress. I can express myself freely anywhere, either facebook or weibo, as long as I obey the local laws/policy, and it is not different on PDF.
