How PUNJAB came to dominate the Army

Cause they're dumb f**** who needs a kick up the backside and fyi it was Hosh Muhammad Sheedi

Rai Ahmed Khan kharal and mirzali Khan should also be mentioned for their bravery against the Brits mofos

A dispassionate understanding of our past is far more important than any monument, as long as the past remains shrouded in myth we ll never realise where we are & why we are in this situation.

Agree mongals were stopped at river indus so punjabis get that credit
No when Mongols came, Delhi Left Lahore hanging with no support from forces, no garrison, governor escaped

Regular civilians faught the mongols with makeshift weaponry and killed so many of them in the 10s of thousands that they had to relinquish thier campaign to make up for loses

It's a true brave heart story, I wish we make a movie on it someday, heroics of deendar Muhammad and regular civillians butchering Mongols with makeshift weaponry from their farms or houses while in rest of the world they were the ones butchering armies let alone civilians

Mongols went and sacked Delhi, did they not? Or is that Timur?
Timur again Delhi sultanate depopulated it's cities in the region and moved most of it's forces to protect Delhi - just like how Delhi dealt with Mongols to protect it's more populated Gagentics regions

here Timur faced guerrilla warfare by jutts who attacked and looted his logistics, weaponry, caravans, horses etc, he had to kill 2000 jutts before moving on to the infamous sack of Delhi

I think that's why im historical records there's a general dislike for poorbis or Delhi, cause of betrayals which makes sense

Population of Pakistan in 60s was less than Englands not just UK, despite the fact Pakistan was experiencing population boom from 30s, 40s it was so underpopulated even till 60s we couldn't match england forget UK as whole
- so ofcourse those in Delhi protected Thier more populated lands

I think there was a good deal of resistance against Timur around Okara/Depalpur

@Maula Jatt timur sacked Delhi though, did he not? The mongols before him also besieged Delhi if I am not mistaken.

Yes, they did.
Nader Shah, Abdali, Marathas, Sikhs & Jats attacked Delhi too. Delhi was the seat of power & was naturally a target for plunder.

People really downplay kokhars of the middle ages, not many talks of em...
Ghazi Malik of tughlaqs was carried to his throne by khokhar chieftain- without khokhars thier won't be the most illustrious Delhi based dynasty bar peak Mughals themselves, his pagh bandhi was done by em and

Sayyed dynasty of Delhi sultanate were khokhar chiefs themselves

As always, any dispassionate analysis of history proves that the bengalis and recruits from the badlands of UP were better at soldiering compared to Punjabis except Sikhs.

They helped the British defeat the sikh empire, the hardest adversary fornthe British in the subcontinent.

Kinda got served what they deserved as backlash from sikhs in 1857, sikhs got a chance to repay their grudge because honestly, we never did give a **** about the mughal overlord in delhi, so to hell with his rebellion.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Khalsa Army had many Muslims. In the decisive battles of Ferozeshah (1845) against Sir Hugh Gough and Governor-General Sir Henry Hardinge, the Punjab Army gun crews composed entirely of Punjabi Muslims

And in the Battle of Sobraon (1846); the Indian waterloo, Sikh commanders (not Muslims) betrayed Punjabis and the British were permitted to reach Lahore on February 26, 1846 as per the 'pre-planned strategy.

As for Sikhs being better soldiers than Muslim and Hindu Punjabis, the Brits believed otherwise. Of the ~4 lac recruits provided by Punjab in the WW1, around 53% were Muslims (Muslims made less than 50% of Punjab population at that time), 97 thousand Sikhs, and 83 thousand were Hindus

Loving Ranjeet Singh's nut suckers getting their collective kachas in a twist in this thread.

Coping with 3000 years history of inglorious subservience and cuckery must be one of the hardest things going around.

That’s because History isn’t explored in Pakistan. Remaining unaware of the Past blinds nations & communities to their present.

No Mongols ran right through the land of Punjab with the customary nonresistence and were only defeated by the Turks in power in Dehli.

Then came Babur, ran right through Punjab, again no resistance and landed at Panipat.

Later came the Persian Nadir Shah and he did sack Dehli rather brutally.

But the best out of these was that great Afghan Abdali, which really puts Ranjeets Singh's nutsuckers in their natural cuckery induced daze. On the urging of Shah Waliullah, Abdali came to save the ancestors of the Ranjeet Singh's nut suckers who were being slaughtered by their ethnic brethren and their maratah allies, just because they happened to be of the sullah variety.

Punjabis by history has always been the bravest people, tactically sharp, strategically cunning and know the use of technology, weapons , machinery better than anyone else.
Among other things was the games children ( boys) played as young in the hilly areas, deserts and plains of Punjab.

Hiding in bushes, climbing trees, running up towards hill tops, swimming in canals etc then ambushing during chuppan chupayi in rural areas, diving into streams playing peepal plaangra, etc however it became a family tradition to join Army.

If units of Pakistan army are looked at, they comprised mostly of Punjabis and Pathans to start with which then very slowly went towards sindhi and balochi. In between the areas of mountains like murree, abbotabad, and from parts of kashmir, many officers and soldiers joined. Before 1971, bengali origin also joined and some stayed on after 71.

With long range missiles, drones, heavy machinery, and modern equipment, the characteristics required from soldiers have changed.

As the most populous administrative region of the country, it is no surprise that it contributes heavily to the armed forces. So much so that it has become a tradition of some of the districts.

Despite such magnificent history, the concept of warrior race or supremacist ideology has not taken route in the linguistic group which is a testimony to the culture of tolerance, acceptance and liberalism.

However the article does highlight a major problem in terms of lopsided approach towards land distribution in the administrative unit where lands were taken away from those resisting the British and awarded to loyalists.

Interestingly the Khanate of Kalat supported Abdali in the Battle of Panipat.
