We will wait an see , yes yes its an invincible plane ;)

Provided u know that AWACS wont cross the borders and Like Aircraft Carriers, AWACS will have a heavy Escort Fleet.
So you need to counter the MKIs rather IL76.

Since Intercepting a MKI, the Best Fighter in SA, itself is a challenge doing the same in OUR territory ( where AWACS will Operate ) is NOT that easy.

Well I am sure that it will be quite safe its big , slow , and easy target but its invincible

ur high on something :suicide:

The Indian Air Force (IAF)'s newest force-multiplier, the first of three 'Phalcon' Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft (Airborne Warning And Control System and Airborne Early Warning & Control are interchangeable terms), landed quietly in New Delhi on January 11, 2009. Confirming this, Indian media said that the aircraft made a brief stop at Delhi's Palam Airport from Israel, where it was inspected by Indian Air Chief, ACM Fali Major before heading out to Agra.
The induction of the Phalcon comes as a tremendous boost in the present standoff between Pakistan and India. "It can help monitor the military build-up, troop and aircraft movements nearly 200 km inside Pakistan while flying nearly 100 km inside your own territory," says Air Marshal A K Göel (retired). The only platforms offering such a capability, albeit a limited one, are the spy planes of the RAW's Aviation Research Centre and the IAF's fleet of Israeli-built Heron and Searcher-II drones.
IAF AEW&C System can achieve this using its Israeli-built AEW mission suite called the Phalcon, mounted on a Russian-built IL-76 transport aircraft. The system is used for tactical surveillance of airborne and surface targets and intelligence gathering to a radius of over 400 km. The solid-state phased array Elta EL/M-2075 radar is mounted on a radome above the fuselage. The electronically steered beam provides 360 degree coverage around the aircraft and it carries air force personnel on board to analyse the data and steer fighter aircraft.
The aircraft are to form part of a new AEW squadron # 50 based in the 2,700-acre Agra air base, which already houses an IL-76 transport squadron and a squadron of IL-78 MKI air-to-air refueler aircraft will also be home to the AWACS that will enhance the air defence and assault tactics of IAF. Agra's existing runway length of 9,000 feet at the base has been extended to 10,500 feet and work is on for setting up three new hangars.
The avionics laboratory at the station, which already handles avionics systems of the existing IL-76 and IL-78 MKI aircraft, is also readying to accommodate the calibration and the integration processes of the new radar system. A Transport Aircraft Operations Tactics Development Cell (TAOTDC), the top gun school of transport aircraft in India, is also getting ready for future courses considering the induction of the AWACS, according to Indian media.

How Do You Plan To Counter Phalcon Threat?

:smitten:

Better would be to get long range AA missiles so that the area of operation closer to the border can be restricted, say reduce by a 100 KM. Would any one keep their SAM batteries on LOC to avoid the threat from an AWACS?

Hi,

Indeed pak lacks in long range sams---no doubt about that. It will take a big load off the shoulders of interceptors if we get some batteries.

I doubt anyone would place a battery close to the border---which could get extremely vulnerable to strike by special forces of either side.

but sir, wouldnt it be vulnerable to SEAD missions..and will be easy pickings....

Hi,

The sams will have a life of 5 to 10 days---the fate of the war will be decided by that time.

LR sams are no easy pickings---and movable sam site tougher to find.

It will also depend upon the losses suffered by the incoming attack planes---the psyche and mental toughness of your pilot will be of utmost importance---if he has seen many of his friends being blown out of the skies miles and miles away from the target and his blood has turned to ice---then you have an issue---.

LR sams iduce a massive fear factor into the pilots brain. A pilot is a human being as well---he is not living in vaccuum---.

It will ultimately come down to what price the attacker wants to pay to overcome the sam sites.

Well the answer to the question posted in the title of thread is simple. That 99% of my country men don't seem to appreciate.

MONEY.Unless and Until you develop a strong Economy Ultimately we will not be able to fight Indians.

Will the S-300/S-400 ABM systems that India possess (not sure abt S-400) be able to shoot the pak awacs deep inside their own territory ? since their range is around 400 Km's ?

yeah sure,,The S-300PMU can shoot down any aircraft at extreme long ranges which enters Indian airspace but its primarily meant for defending sensitive military assets of India...but the turning point is the deal with Russia to co-produce the ultra long range KS-172 AAms with a claimed 210nm range..the negotiations are on but cant predicts when it'll enter IAF..but whenever it enters IAF, it 'll be capable of plucking pakistani Awacs, refuellers and other strategic air assets out of the clear blue sky in pakistan while the launching platform can stay well within the Indian airspace.....:cheers::victory:

And the Indian AWACS is several times larger than the Pakistani system, it represents a bigger radar signature hence a juicer target. Easy to pick up and not difficult to miss. :azn:

Hi,

Covert actions only work for so long---they have already peaked out and again india has not gained much out of it---actually nothing except for some more bad blood between the two.

Actually, in covert actions we will succeed more---because you have more to lose---once this afghan issue is over, you are extremely vulnerable to our covert action---we can target southern india---bangalore etc---all your computer related centers---you are going to lose big time and that will end up in full fledged war---.

You want to be wealthy and well off---then find a way for peace with pakistan---afghanistan is not forever---there is life after afghanistan---pak can take insurgency to any level it wants to once the threat of american forces is neutralized from afg---.

The best time for peace is now---make peace and move ahead with life---otherwise it is a losers game for both.

I don't want to get into the issues of past and the grudge about past---that won't be productive.

So you are saying that india will sit back and just watch pakistan do all covert operation on it?

From my 2 months forum experience. I always see most of pakistanis living abroad wants war with india not conventional but nuclear and covert operations. This may be reason that they will not be effected directly. They live in western countries and enjoy all sort of stuff. Still they support talibanization of pakistan.

I met some pakistani bay area, they don't want even visit pakistan. forget about the taking business to pakistan

If you ask any indian, majority of them say planning to move back india and want develop business from there.

Looks like it is not the view of majority of pakistani living in pakistan.

This is just my observation btw.
