How different is life in the Pakistani cities from Indian cities?

Why is consuming alcohol is a centre of universe for you?

As Pakistan is an officially dry country, there are many other things to do than just waste yourself consuming alcohol.

And if alcohol is the sole means to socialize, then believe me in any major Pakistani city, there is abundance of bootleggers who will provide with every type of alcohol you wish to consume.

But where will he socialize

He is such a loser and nerdy guy that he can't have fun and engaging conversations without alcohol. And in Pakistan, you might get illegal alcohol but a very small niche' would be drinking it and partying. Poor chap would have a hard time finding anybody to talk....since the kid needs alcohol to even make parties enjoyable :D

There aren't even bars or clubs anywhere in Lahore--let alone rest of Pakistan. Very few, underground in houses may be. But then again, that's a very small niche'

Bechara! He probably needs alcohol to become "confident" enough to talk to girls :omghaha::omghaha:

. . .
Well Gujarat is a dry state and they were going to ban alcohol in Kerala not so long ago, Going by what's happening in India these days with the whole hyper Hindu nationalism I won't be surprised alcohol will be banned country wide.. As for drinking/partying much prefer Bangalore and Goa.. Places that you have posted in Gurgoan and Delhi or Bombay is just overrated join ts full of arrogant wannabes, Newly rich prats trying hard to show off in your face all the time.. Have experienced this first hand As a foreign tourist I'd very much rather enjoy Bangalore or Goa, Way better vibes

Indians lack a drinking culture anyways.. Unlike most other places

P.S: There is no comparison with Pakistan, It's a Islamic country with strict laws against alcohol... it's not rocket science

It's not an Islamic country thing, it's just a Muslim thing. Our peoples just don't drink alcohol since it's banned by Islam.

Even Turkey...a much richer, developed, "European," and prosperous nation with secularism enshrined in their system...drinks far, far less alcohol on average per capita basis than India.

It's just has to do with having a superior/fitter social culture. Muslim countries generally have better social cultures in many aspects than non-Muslim one's when it comes to things like marriage rates, alcohol/drugs consumption, abortions, religious practice, divorce rates, demographics, births outside marriage, family structure, fertility, modest dressing, sexual promiscuity (especially whorish adventures of females) and so on

For many of the people living in Delhi, we will miss our parties and drinks.
And recently, I have started to like this beer a lot, so I personally will miss it too.

one stark difference that one may notice is that India is MUCH more Westernised than Pakistan, so while one wouldn`t find it difficult to get a little drunk and then party in India, it is only the super rich who get these "luxuries" in Pakistan, in private parties mostly in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore; and that too at a very high cost and a great social risk, since acts like these are considered social stigma and a taboo.

So drinking is considered westernization

Try the freshly brewed one with a wheatish flavour. Its not strong , a mild one. Best times between 3 and 7 pm , happy hrs ; take a late "lunch" from office.

Beer taste like piss and wine tastes like bad medicine, only thing great about it that it gets you drunk and you forget about your miserable life for few hours.

Too high.

Its an epidemic.

I know couples who are partying every day of the week.

Kids in college even high school. Question is, where do they get the money from? Don't the parents ask?

But doesn't this only apply to the urban middle and upper class? What about the rural class or "lower class?"

.
Sorry no idea about canadas drinking culture . though i have found muslims in some western countries more regressive than their counterparts in countries of origin. UK as a eg.

that is because when you have access to open sex and open drinking you tend to see the evil in it as compared to those who dont.

Read the title. Its a comparison.

No, they are not everything, but life is pretty dull without alcohol and parties. I have heard a lot about Muree brewery on this forum, I would love if we could get that in India or do we have that in India?

That's just your point of view.......happiness is not in Alcohol or parties....infect people like you goes there to hide their sorrows by drinking alcohol or dance in parties......
And now you can see in Europe who spent their whole life in these things are now looking for internal peace to run away from these things.....you can find many examples on Internet.....

Gibbs is right. We have zero drinking culture.

People here drink to get smashed. Have zero idea of good whisky. Wouldn't know a good wine if they were immersed in it.

Ways to go before we (if ever) become people who can carry their booze well.

Lol, funny

LOL!

I did not claim Muslim countries to be the wealthiest or most powerful.

I talked only in terms of cultural trends relating to marriage rates, alcohol/drugs consumption, abortions, religious practice, divorce rates, demographics, births outside marriage, family structure, fertility, modest dressing, sexual promiscuity (especially whorish adventures of females) and so on

According to wiki

Pure alcohol consumption among persons (age 15+) in liters per capita per year, 2010
119 Rank
23px-Flag_of_India.svg.png
India 4.3 liters.Very very less

East Asians are not tolerant towards Alcohol and only few muslim countries are below Indians.
