Who knows whether we did or not. On the surface, we might appear to have gained a helpful counterbalance against hegemonic Hindu designs for the subcontinent.

On the other hand, if all Muslims of South Asia stayed in one country, maybe their collective voice for sanity, moderation, tolerance, and peaceful co-existence would have diluted Hindu proclivities towards ethnic/religious 'purity', chauvinism, violence, extremism, radicalism, etc.
