I think it is an outdated topic to discuss whether to be pro-American or anti-American in Pakistan. The United States has already left Afghanistan. The influence of the United States on Pakistan is completely incomparable with that of Musharraf. Even the Taliban in Afghanistan are no longer Talking about whether it is anti-American, Imran Khan is actually provoking an outdated topic
It is a little outdated now. But a year ago--in late March/April of 2022, America's withdrawal from Afghanistan was not that old. Imran used the bogus 'cypher' brilliantly to tap into Pakistanis' anti-Americanism. He brilliantly painted himself as yet another victim of America's 'regime change' to prop up his sagging popularity. He came up with brilliant slogans like 'Imported Government' and 'Absolutely Not' to whip up the support whose foundations lay in Pakistanis' anti-Americanism. He must be a student of Machiavelli and Goebbels. When it suits him, he becomes an expert about 'the West' because he lived in England quite a while. But I'd say he really doesn't know the West. Whoring around like a playboy and playing cricket doesn't teach you much about the West. He lacks even basic decency which is found in most Western social interactions in the higher echelons of society. And he uses Islamism like Riyasat e Medina to appeal to the conservative Pakistani society.
His brilliance in utilizing the media is to be commended. As his post NCM popularity rose, he thought he could use that popularity to pressure the Establishment into 'early elections'. Why didn't this idiot call for early elections in March 2022--before the NCM?? With a stroke of his pen, he could have called the early elections! Because he was not that popular then. Losses in the byelections and even in some local elections even in K-P must have scared him of elections. He got booted out via NCM, fair and square per any poor country's standards. And only then he thought of early elections! Hypocrite!! When the Establishment didn't budge, this idiot started to target the Establishment directly. He definitely had support in the officer class of Pakistani Army and thus he became more and more aggressive against the military. Just look at how many PDF members have been calling for the officers to rise against the top military generals. The military didn't know what to do with their Frankenstein's newest monster and Imran kept getting away with his antics--until the long rope given to him is becoming a noose around his neck when May 9 happened.
His followers are so blind that they can't see that if this was an 'Imported Government' then what has America done to support this govt? As I see, even $1 billion is hard to get from the IMF despite the talk going on for a long time. His followers are so blind that the bogus slogan of 'Absolutely Not' about allowing American military bases in Pakistan was a bogus slogan: Where are the American bases in Pakistan since this govt came to power? The co-operation between America and Pakistan is no more and no less now than was under Imran's regime; Pakistan facilitated American withdrawal from Afghanistan when Imran was the PM of Pakistan, which was the right decision. His followers are so blind that they can't see that even the 'founding fathers' of Imran's party as well Imran's Wasim Akram Plus Mr. Buzdar have left Imran. Some left because of pressure. But what kind of 'ideology' Imran had in his party that a mere few days of pressure has Imran's almost entire leadership abandon him? This was never a political party!! It was cult built around a charlatan and it is coming to its logical end.
PS. I believe, what is happening in Pakistan has Pakistan's foreign lenders' and well-wishers backing, starting from China. They want Pakistan to stabilize before help is extended. No one wants a 'leader' like Imran Khan who publicly called Pakistanis to send money to Pakistan through illegal channels and is constantly out to agitate.
