Well, i think Afghanistan got what it deserved.They tried to bring Pustunistan issue and it actually helped us.Ayub Khan (Pushtuns) pumped thousands of pushtuns in to civil and millitary and the insurgency died and then Famous Bhutto Quote (Pay them in same coin) and since then Afghanistan has not recovered.
Lesson: Don't mess with Pakistan.

Wrong, there can never be peace with india they are enemy of our blood, afghan pushtoons have started to share their bed with indians before and now recently but as pakistani pushtoons we will never do that as we can never be at peace with india.

As far as pushtoonistan is concerned, we dont want one that in independent of pakistan, what we want is autonomy, pushtoons of either land being able to come and go freely.

can we stop afghan bashing please, they are not refugees, most afghans in pakistan are pushtoons and therefore they are most welcomed.

We the pakistani pushtoons share ancestral, cultural and historical heritage with afghan pushtoons more then any pakistani.

Let us be clear about nationality. There is difference between being pathans and being Pakistani pathan and an Afghan pathan.

Ask both either of them will like to be called by nationality which doesnt belong to them.

Now as far as the bashing is concern yes no need for bashing. we had hosted them and we have close ties. Just few things which are of concerns viz viz Afghans and Pakistanis too on both sides and nothing is wrong in criticising based on those bad things.

India is not party to Afghan issue nor to its soultion. The Indians are are like Paree Shahdi main abdullah dewana.

The only stakholders in this Afghan conflict and its solution are Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

All others including China will be outsiders.

Lets get to the basic question again how can Afghan refugees be rapatriated. So far, following suggestions have been brought by members. I would add my observation to each argument.

1. Expel them.
If we expel them what would be the procedure. How can we manage that. What would be the hinderances. Why govt. so far has failed to that. Will it tantamount to undoing all our hospitality over thirty years if we expel them (by force if not voluntary).

2. Give them nationality or at least to those who want to stay.

What if most of them want to stay as being observed they are not inclined to go back. What would be the repercussion for Pakistan to give millions of people nationality. If we could have given nationality to them why cant then we give nationality to our Biharis brothers in Bangladesh. How would govt accomodate them.

3. Give nationality to at least those who are loyal to Pakistan:

there is not litmus test for their loyalty. and i bet most of them are not loyal to Pakistan.

4. Repatriate them when peace is restored in Afghanistan:
Exactly how many years are we talking here. Can peace be achieve soon there. Till then what should be our policy. How much more we gonna pay for that.

one thing more can we just restrict them to camps as Iran has done. Iran had properly documented them and had restricted their stay to camps.

I would like your suggestions here. And pl avoid this ethnic related discussion anymore. Thanks.

Pointless argument. But lets say you have a point. Then if it were not for Arabs Afghans would have been Budhist or something else. Its a chain. It is Allah who gives the light of Islam to people he likes. Shall we house them just for theory that they had converted our ancestors. We should be proud of Muslim rulers be that Afghan or some else.

Last thing. If it were not for Pakistan Afghans would have been communist or Christian by now.

They never converted us. it was the Mughals who were Turko-Mongol by origin. it really amazes me that the culturaless Afghans love to claim central asian turkic empires as there own when they have no connection with them. No we owe the Afghans nothing.

We have hosted them for over 30 years and they are still out there. we know they are a big problem not only for economy (esp of NWFP) but are also involved in criminal and terror activities. I once studied crime data of Peshawar and 58 percent of the crimes were committed by Afghan refugees. They are not only and economic and security threat but they also hate Pakistan very much. In this thread I would like we discuss why they are still in Pakistan and how can they be repatriated. No Indians pl.

That is not true, local people hate them. Police hates them because of robberies, kidnapping, theft, crimes and prostituion.
