The study about 70% Indonesian economy controlled by Chinese Indonesian is wrong. Actually the study conducted in 1997 by an Australian, and the number 70% comes out from Indonesian private companies listed in Stock Exchange. State Owned companies and Multinational companies are excluded from the calculation.
So it only talk about large private companies in Indonesia which is listed in stock exchange (minus state owned companies and multinational companies) before 1998.
The thing that you should know is that 60,6 % of the economy are in the hand of small and medium size companies. And majority of the small and medium size companies are in the hand of native.
This is the statement from our finance minister :
"In her speech Indrawati stated that Indonesia's micro, small and medium sized enterprises are the backbone of the Indonesian economy. These enterprises account for 99 percent of the total amount of enterprises that are operating in Indonesia and they create a total of 107.6 million jobs in Southeast Asia's largest economy. Moreover, Indonesia's micro, small and medium-sized companies contribute 60.6 percent to Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP)."
