Honor Killings: Why is Pakistani society mute ?

That's because the authorities' stance is reactive, not proactive. The only way to stop this madness is to force local leaders (mullahs, village elders, etc.) to send a crystal clear message that this behavior is not acceptable.

it is also because of ignorance and lack of education and some peope get blinded by emotions that they dont see what they are doing is right or wrong. hypocrisy is honour killing revolve around girls only and guys never bring shame for families if do the same things

the whole muslim society is mute. Allah will inshallah wipe these jahil people out of the planet, no body needs them

Educating everyone is the only way to counter these fake moolas and 'sardars'.

Wont help...its the mentality that has to change..
For example Nawab Akber Bugti was oxford or Howard graduate....did that change his mentality?

A law change and some form of custodial sentencing may help..

Why is Pakistani society mute in honor killings?

Because Pakistanis are cowards, self centered and selfish. Pakistanis don't care about anybody except themselves (with the exception of a minute few).

true, but you can really say the same about everyone in the east, maybe the whole brown race from arabia to india is like that. we are defiantly very hot tampered and emotional fools, there is no denying in this

So @Aeronaut tell me what else do I do but shrug my shoulders nd move on about something I have no opinion? You wish that I endorse or decry honour killings without deciding which way to go? My opinion isn't good enough for me to arrive at such a decision, so tough, live with my indecision.

Speak out, if you can, if you can't believe that honor killings are inhumane, unethical, savage and unislamic.

You wont observe honour killings in well educated families, aeronaut is right, it is clear jihalat..

Yara, one of our family friends is a very respectable Baloch family. The figure head of it , His daughter was a university student and secretly married her teacher. His father, found out , he went on and staged a wedding and re-arranged the Nikkah, no one complained. There is a always a way out of behaving like Neanderthals and just killing everyone who marries out of free will.

I don't have enough information to incline toward either conclusion. Unlike the majority on this forum however, I'm trying to not jump to conclusions.
