Hong Kong actor apologises on Chinese social media for praising British queen

In fact Queen Elizabeth 2 is a bitch.

I wonder what she thinks of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

People seeking revenge that they will be seeking it.

Queen Elizabeth 2 lived long enough to see the Afghan Taliban win the war.

Hong Kong happens to be the only former British colony, where people want the British to rule them

They must hate CCP and mainland Chinese with a passion
'the only former British colony, where people want the British to rule them'
Only ?? u miss out the 1.4 billion in india vs the handful in HK.
My bad, u said former colony. india still is a colony. lol

.
Hong kong's previous self ruled governments failed decolonization education to the young, one country, two systems is a mistake should be abolished.

Indian media, Gravitas: Chinese delegation banned from seeing Queen's coffin
LoL, It sounds like being able to see their former master's corpse is a kind of super glorious honor, lol...

Likewise.

Fury as The Lancet sensationally claims Covid may have leaked from an AMERICAN lab

  • Report comes from an expert described by critics as 'Xi's propagandist'
  • Independent virologists slammed comments as 'wild speculation' lacking a basis

The author of The Lancet's Covid-19 Commission report, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, has previously been nicknamed 'Xi's propagandist' over his pro-Beijing comments.

'This may be one of the Lancet’s most shameful moments regarding its role as a steward and leader in communicating crucial findings about science and medicine,' she said.

Um..I don't see where the Lancet changed/retracted their article due to nationalistic pressure..do you somehow magically see that? In fact it sounds like they are standing pretty firm and are ignoring all the "fury" by critics instead of giving in to social pressure. Or maybe you have a bad comprehension of things?

How about an example related to the topic:

Carnegie Mellon University won’t discipline or sack me for vile posts on Queen Elizabeth: Uju Anya

“My university leadership showed very clearly they did not approve of my speech; however, they stand in firm support of my freedom of expression.”

Exactly, should be only one country one system, those people in HK are spoiled thinking they have previleges and are special from other chinese, and they dont have to be loyal to the country, some of them are proud that HK is a bastion of western influences not chinese territory. Thats why CIA and british spy agents were so rampant in HK damaging chinese national security.

Chinese government doesn't sanction him, it's the Chinese social media, can you tell the difference?

Who said the Chinese Government strong armed him?

I'm saying people can't freely speak their opinions in China without getting a nationalistic backlash so bad they have to retract things. It's not like he said anything that was factually incorrect.

Ok, so you are criticizing the Chinese social media, social media is just like that, in US is the same.

Note the Carnegie Mellon teacher saying (unlike the Chinese man) she isn't going to retract anything bad she said about Queen Elizabeth no matter how many people are outraged. Plus she dared them all to try and get her fired from her job for not retracting it. Basically saying this isn't China where everybody is a weakling to pressure so give it your best shot as you will fail.

Some in Chinese media choose to hold their ground and some cave in, it depends on how well individuals can handle social media pressure, we view them on case by case basis, boasting someone's subbornness as a sign of strength of US is ridiculous and we sneeze at it.

This guy is not ordinary person. No one cares if ordinary HKers said the same.

Well I'm glad you are highlighting to us all an example of the weak people in China who cave in...which I guess in your mind is better than me highlighting an example of somebody in the US who didn't?

He apologized because he realized he was wrong. Not difficult not to believe that. After all colonialism shouldn't be glorified.
He is free not to apologize. But his reputation would go downhill.

The Lancet, however is one of the world's most prestigious medical journals.
Yet it is still being attacked viciously for even suggesting that US lab also needs to be investigated.
Tell me, what is wrong with US lab being investigated if they have nothing to hide?
