Hockey Junior World Cup 2016: India beat Belgium 2-1 in final

Great show by our boys. They need and deserve all the praises and plaudits and rewards they will undoubtedly get.

I am just surprised that in spite of playing consistently well for close to two years now, and beating most of the big teams, our senior team is still ranked only 6th. Which of course is a big improvement to where we were just a few years before that at the Olympics and the World Cup.

Just shows how much serious ground still needs to be covered.

Nope. Sorry to burst your bubble, but India defeated Pakistan 6-2 and won Asian Junior Cup in 2015, the qualifying tournament for the World Cup. In July 2016 Pakistan Junior team was invited to 4 nation (Pakistan, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands) tournament in which Pakistan finished 4th and Belgium 1st. Also 2 months back India Junior team was invited to 4 nation (India, Belgium, Germany, Spain) tournament as well in which India finished 1st, Germany 2nd.

it was 2015. few months back. Pakistan government for the first time showed seriousness in promoting hockey. 2 months special camp was conducted with all legends at the same time training them for junior hockey world cup.
