NATO has a few minutes to be contemplating if this is a intentional strike. In response all nato members with nuclear weapons will launch against china before the missile hits its target. Think if I'm in the direction of the strike I will automatically assume I am or one of my allies is the target. And the other problem is you assume no retaliation at all! The UK has it's own SSBNs even IF the rest of the alliance doesn't get involved. Which is a very big if china will still be hit with multiple nuclear strikes. Is millions of your fellow Chinese and many cities worth one?

Of course it's an intentional strike. Some NATO officers will want to launch but then Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden will tell them to stand down. The fact is, nobody wants all their cities over 50,000 population to be vaporized by thousands of warheads on JL-3s, DF-41s and DF-5s. It's okay if just one city like London gets nuked. That's the price of war. UK doesn't even have an independent nuclear deterrent
