After the recent Quantico episode, Chopra faced online attacks and even some calls to boycott her work and the brands that she endorses.

Mumbai: US television studio ABC has apologised to Indian fans of its crime drama "Quantico" after an episode featuring Hindu nationalists trying to frame Pakistan in a terrorist plot sparked online outrage against Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra, who plays a lead role in the show.

"The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn't create the show, nor does she write or direct it," said Walt Disney-owned ABC in its statement.

After the recent Quantico episode, Chopra has faced online attacks in India, and even some calls to boycott her work and the brands that she endorses, including South Korean giant Samsung Electronics Co.

Others called on the government to black out the scene where Chopra, who stars as an FBI agent in the series, holds up sacred Hindu prayer beads as evidence that the plotter in the episode, planning to detonate a nuclear bomb in New York, was a Hindu nationalist.


"The myth of Hindu terror, by a fake story, enters American television with the help of Priyanka Chopra. Would any Pakistani actress betray Pakistan or Islam the way she betrays India and Hinduism?", David Frawley, a Hindu scholar based in the United States, tweeted.

ABC, in its statement, said Chopra has no involvement in the storylines depicted in the series. "The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone," ABC said in a statement on Friday.

There was bit of outrage on social media, and the studio apologized for showing saffron terror which is a reality indians don't want the world to know.
Compare this to the beghairat Pakistani-American who keep quiet even when US networks wrongly generalize and depict Muslims as terrorists. We have channels in Gulf like Showtime buying 24 series to popularize Muslims as terrorists. We have shareholders in these channels like Saudi Prince Alwaleed, UAE and others give chunk of revenue to US networks when has there been outrage or boycott campaign against US content? Now even US university studies prove rise in hate crimes and islamophobia has something to do with US media caricatures of Muslims and Arabs.
I was once a huge fan of US TV shows of the 80s and 90s but stopped watching them myself knowing how they will use this medium to dxo propaganda and damage the whole community as what they did with Native Americans.

There is a need to stop US TV content and divert it towards other like Turkey, similar production quality and not propaganda in nature.

In a shocking disclosure a former officer of the Indian home ministry has alleged that Indian government had orchestrated the two high-profile terrorist attacks which New Delhi has blamed on Pakistan-based militant groups.


According to India’s Times of India (TOI) newspaper, RVS Mani, who as home ministry under-secretary signed the affidavits submitted in court in the Ishrat Jahan ‘fake encounter case’, has said that Satish Verma, until recently a part of the Central Bureau of Investigation-SIT probe team, told him that both the 2001 attack on Indian parliament and the 2008 Mumbai attacks were set up “with the objective of strengthening the counter-terror legislation (sic)”.

In what is certain to escalate the already vicious fight between the CBI and the IB over the IshratJahan "fake encounter case", a former home ministry officer has alleged that a member of the CBI-SIT team had accused incumbent governments of "orchestrating" the terror attack on Parliament and the 26/11 carnage in Mumbai.

R V S Mani, who as home ministry under-secretary signed the affidavits submitted in court in the alleged encounter case, has said that Satish Verma, until recently a part of the CBI-SIT probe team, told him that both the terror attacks were set up "with the objective of strengthening the counter-terror legislation (sic)".
