Sri Rama Sene activists try to disrupt seminar in Delhi

New Delhi: A group of Sri Rama Sene activists on Wednesday tried to disrupt a seminar being attended by journalists from India and Pakistan here protesting the alleged criticism
of the Indian media by Pakistani scribes.

The trouble started when Pakistani journalist Khan Yusufzai (The News) referred to an article which suggested India to attack Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks while speaking at the seminar on the theme 'Is Media Jingoism fanning Indo-Pak Tensions?'

Around 10 people sitting inside the main auditorium started clapping at the suggestion and began shouting slogans like 'Pakistan Hai Hai' and 'Pakistan Murdabad'. They also
demanded that the seminar should be immediately wrapped up.
However, security personnel of the IIC, where the seminar is held, intervened and the protesters were taken out of the hall. Later, they were taken out of the IIC premises, where police has deployed over 50 personnel.
"The meeting was disrupted for a brief period. It resumed after some time," Madhur Trehan, one of the organisers and president of the Foundation of Media Professionals, said.

A senior police official said no one has been detained in connection with the incident.Sri Ram Sene national general secretary Vinay Kumar Singh said that their protest was against accusations allegedly made by Pakistani journalists and writer Arundhati Roy that Indian media is "sponsored" by the US.

"Roy and Pakistanis are telling us that Indian media is the agent of Americans. But tell us, who are your sponsors?" the Sri Ram Sene general secretary said commenting on the his group's protest.

Roy could not be contacted for comments. Yusufzai said it was unfortunate for some people to disrupt such peaceful discussions.

"We were not representing any governments, though I think they wanted to make a point," he said.

Yes I was right. There was no thrashing. Geo just made that up.

"Ten people sitting inside the main auditorium started clapping and shouting slogans against Pakistan when Pakistani journalist Rahimullah Khan Yusufzai referred to an article that suggested India should attack Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks. However, security personnel and journalists intervened and the protesters were escorted out of the hall without incident."

P.S. Tho the Sri Ram Sena guys should have been thrashed :(

.
Is that so. If they simply clapped and shouted, is that even a breach of the IPC? Indians are well within their rights to jeer Pakistan IMO.

Though if they were Sri Ram Sena people then after the Bangalore incident I wouldn't be too happy about what happened.

.
What a shameful act, This is how they show hospitality? Shame on them and Indian government should take some actions against these extreme elements. They should have provided them enough security.

.
There was no attacking pakistani journalist , In india media got a strong power which is over powering even the political system , so i wont believe such claims, and more over it was just - shouting slogan again pakistani media. Which these guys were in their right to do.
nothing much wrong with it.

Extremist are obnoxious weeds they need to be wipes of, if this is a plan to put the non existing blame on - extrimist i support it - get them in jail - even if they didnt do much ;)
