Some really shitty people live in Chilas

I have heard this from other travelers as well

It is full of madressahs and a major Taliban support base

Taliban supporters? Not so much. Intolerant, uneducated, narrow minded, sectarian tribal people? Yes. And it's not just Chillas, the whole Kohistan stretch is like that; Bhesham, Pattan, Dassu, etc., and the long unsettled stretch between Chillas and Dassu is a popular bandit and dacoit travel destination where they go to hide from the authorities.

Man these tourists do it right. I've seen videos of them hitch-hiking and bicycling through out GB. I've hitch-hiked from Skardu to Gilgit once. Bicycling and biking though? My spine says "no, thank you".
