Who is Sultan Hakim Karim ? Can't seem to find any info about him.

There were many sultans of that time, unless you know what Kingdom or time period, your shooting in the dark.

Many muslim rulers would start their coins with AL Sultan followed by auspicious titles associating them with religion:

For example Sultan Jalaludin Mohammed shah's proper courtly title was:

Al-sultan al-azam al-muazzamin khalifat Allah 'ali al-makunin Jalal al-Dunya w’al-Din (the most exalted of the great sultans, the caliph of Allah in the universe).

Also Al-KARIM and Al-HAKIM are names of God meaning the generous and the wise.

Well I just translated what @Rakan.SA wrote in Arabic to English using google translate and it gave me this:

" Sultan Halim Karim , Raouf to worship , the rich (?) I understand the last word "

Check out this site , something similar is written besides the 2nd and 3rd coins, but they are gold ones :

These are some Mughal era silver coins that I have. When I was young I used to collect coins , so I have a small collection of old Indian coins . These specific coins were given to me by my grandfather. I always used to wonder what's written on it. They have been with me since 6 years. Please help me decode them.

Silver rupee in the name of of SHAH ALAM of bagalakot dated 1819 obviously.

bagalkot ( now technically bagalkote ) is a town in present south indian state of karnataka... the date you give is 20 years after death of tipu sultan ( in 1799 )... maybe that is significant.

some of the members you tagged in post# 10 are non-pakistani but this is a topic of shared history and history itself, so thanks for tagging me. :-)

Persian was official language of Mughal court. If coins are from Mughal treasury, language should be Persian.

السلطان الحليم الكريم، الرؤوف على عباده ، الغني (؟) ما فهمت اخر كلمه

there is a saudi guy who collects historical coins and money il try to get his info and send it to him.
but hey if you end up selling it to him my commission is 2.5% :enjoy:

Me too I didn't understand last word.

How can I collect them? Any place in India to easily get some?

Be careful of fakes ! If you are not an expert these can be faked very easily, I once bought two coins for 500 bucks which turned out to be fake. Ebay especially is filled to the brim with fakes. Rarely an original item comes through which is buyable.

How can we determine if its real or fake ?
Although I am pretty sure these are real.

Although I am pretty sure these are real.

A guy who collects coins told me they were fake. I didn't buy off eBay, I bought it in Kolkata from a guy who said that it was in his family for years, it seems !

On eBay ? No way to spot a fake ! I would say and recommend that you buy only from known dealers. Dealers who have a real shop outside too.somebody who does not have a negative rep.

Antiques in India are 99% fake, Once that that guy told me. I mean, he knows what he is talking about.
