Help me out. How many active troops do we have?

I'm sorta on a tug-of-war with these Wiki editors denying the evidence given to them about our number of active troops, and how the countries below Pakistan's active troops are highly inaccurate.

List of countries by number of troops - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I need some more sources to confirm our active troop number.

I edit this article....and I am active on other wikipedia articles.....what do you need help with?

Our active troops should be above that of Turkey's.

I want to know how many troops, NCO's, JCO's and officers are present in each unit. Plus, how many units are in one brigade and how many brigades/units/troops make a division. ROUGHLY.

And can someone plz tell me how many years do a Brigadier serve in Army if he is to be promoted.

* Division: An Army Division is an intermediate between a Corps and a Brigade. It is the largest striking force in the army. Each Division is headed by [General Officer Commanding] (GOC) in the rank of Major General. It usually consists of 15,000 combat troops and 8,000 support elements. Currently, the Pakistani Army has 29 Divisions including 20 Infantry Divisions, 2 Armoured Divisions, 2 Mechanized Divisions, 2 Air Defence Divisions, 2 Strategic Divisions and 1 Artillery Division. Each Division composes of several Brigades.
* Brigade: A Brigade generally consists of around 3,000 combat troops with supporting elements. An Infantry Brigade usually has 3 Infantry Battalions along with various Support Arms & Services. It is headed by a Brigadier, equivalent to a Brigadier General in some armies. In addition to the Brigades in various Army Divisions, the Pakistani Army also has 7 Independent Armoured Brigades, 5 Independent Artillery Brigades, 3 Independent Infantry Brigades, 3 Anti-Tank Brigades. These Independent Brigades operate directly under the Corps Commander (GOC Corps).
* Regiment: A regiment is commanded by a Colonel.
* Battalion: A Battalion is commanded by a Lieutenant-Colonel and is the Infantry's main fighting unit. It consists of more than 900 combat personnel.
* Company: Headed by the Major/Captain, a Company comprises about 120–150 soldiers.
* Platoon: An intermediate between a Company and Section, a Platoon is headed by a Lieutenant or depending on the availability of Commissioned Officers, a Junior Commissioned Officer, with the rank of Subedar or Naib-Subedar. It has a total strength of about 30–36 troops.
* Section: Smallest military outfit with a strength of about 9–13 personnel. Commanded by a Non-commissioned officer of the rank of Havildar Major or Sergeant Major.

According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) the Pakistan Army has an active force of 550,000 personnel in 2010.[3] In addition there were around 500,000 reserves.

What does "reserved" troops really mean? And can u plz explain regiment part.

Reservists in india and pakistan as far as i know follow the british territorial army model.Meaning they are basically civilians with civilian jobs and lives but recieve military training for a certain limited amount of days during the year so they can be quickly mobilized in total war.In india a major part comes from the national cadet corps,i guess pakistan has a similar system too as both follow british system.

A regiment is usually composed of a number of battalions. In the indo pak armies which follow british model a regiment is a territorial unit and not a basic battlefield formation ,which is the battalion. So in india and pak armies u can have battalions
From the same regiment serving in widely seperated theatres.

A military reserve force is a military organization composed of citizens of a country who combine a military role or career with a civilian career. They are not normally kept under arms and their main role is to be available to fight when a nation mobilizes for total war or to defend against invasion.
