Great article.how many helis we will finally have after all Apaches chinooks alh luh lch and mi17 will be delivered

Cool...i am impressed by this IAF procurement but at the same times there are reports that all of a sudden the Indian Army too has demanded for the same deal for the Army... which seems odd since its the army duty to demand such war machines by assessing their requirements not when the air support of the same country has ordered for its operations. i suspect discord and incoherence between the two branches of the same country and miss coordination which isn't a good sign for India from purely tactical point of view.

"Let us all caculate for short , 81,1 Mio.USD$ per Helicopter, including spare parts and some AGM-114x weapons ?!Hhmmm , the most modern AH-64D II-III , with Westinghouse APG-78 MMW-Radar , FCS and ARROWHEAD ITADS , but for "Export-States technical US-downgraded, less capable to the US or UK version ", costed actuall about 46 Mio.USD$ !!!A modernized Boeing CH-47F "lame Duck" Chinnok costing actuall 42 Mio USD$ with BAe AN/ALE-47 IRCM system but without any activ modern Northrop Grumman DIRCM , so old Shit too !!!So we come to a Boeing optimistic calculated price of 1,6 Billion USD$ for India !? army has already orderred 75+ LCH and same numbers of dhruv and rudra for its air arm it helps in better coordination and offensive capabilities

Coordination with whom? airforce and army are suppose to coordinate with one another simultaneously. being said apache and chnook area basically meant for the air support of the ground offensive by an army of a country. if air force has them.....A simple coordination would do...additional procurement for the army would only raise cost of training and aircraft maintenance.

well cant say anything about "whom" but it helps when you have apache backed by LCH in 1:3 ratio in ground support role ready for any offensive action as airforce sometimes have other commitments also but in any case its good for any army to have its own air arm ..... in short we will cause we can

yeah but still it will raise cost of maintenance and training. checkout a documentary on apache in the "air warrior" series. its unlike any war machine you ever had in your inventory and you would have ever seen, usa hardware is new to you anyway. The training is tougher and its only for the best of the best.

whats more apache III/E has a new more powerfull yet relaible set of engines with a new gen gearbox and rotor assy which together contribute to almost 25% increase in its lift capability and with its all new data link sensor suite(cant rcall its fancy yamrican name) can guide and coordiante attacks with other friendli assets in the area like helicopters and UAVs ..... man its gonna be one hell of duck shooting for apaches in case of a future war

Slightly incorrect. Th IA has ordered 114 LCH, a number which corresponds to roughly 10 light attack helicopter squadrons, each with 11-12 helis . It is to be noted that each Corps (Rather group Armies) will in time get integral aviation brigades, with a squadron of light attack helis each. In short, the minimum number of LCH to be ordered will be 154-168 for the IA alone (14 corps).

The IAF has already issued a requirement for 65 LCH. Summarizing, that's 179 LCH confirmed, and another 40-54 LCH to be added to the order book at the minimum. As for Rudra, 76 has been confirmed for IA-IAF combined, with the Navy expressing interest in 20.

The IA has expressed a need for 39 Apaches, at 13 per Strike corps to form the heavy attack helicopter squadron for the I,II & XXI Strike corps. However given that the newly raised XIV corps is designated as a Strike Corps(Mountain), it is likely to hold a heavy attack helicopter Squadron as its integral strike asset. That would be another 13, for a total of 52.

Summary:
LCH: 179(confirmed)+54-64(logically expected) = 233-243
ALh-WSI (Rudra):76(confirmed)+20(Navy Interest) =96
Apache: 22(IAF)+11(follow on for IAF)+39(IA)+13=85

These numbers represent the expected force levels given current operational planning. When the Amphibious/expeditionary force is raised formally, additional orders will be expected for operations from on-board LPD/LHDs in fire support roles

Edit: There is a bit of confusion about the number of attack helicopters in an attack helicopter squadron; it should be 12 per squadron, but the IAF has ordered 22 apaches @11 per squadron.
