These SDS measures (MAWS/RWR) are continuously monitoring the environment to detect specific frequencies and electronic signatures associated with being "painted" by a missile seeker or radar system (ground or air based) and are now capable of giving a rough idea where the threat is coming from but they are NOT meant to provide an exact vector of the incoming threat conducive with targeting said threat with an accurate fire solution. Additionally these SDS often only work at a limited range and would be next to useless at actually targeting an aerial target (you would want to do so at a distance of tens of KMs).Hmm but when we can track missiles and ground-based threats why can't we envelop ATGMs A2G missiles and A2A short range?
