Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, MP, took oath as the prime minister Sunday afternoon after the much-talked-about ‘unilateral’ polls to the 10th parliament, which the major political parties boycotted.
The swear ceremony started with reciting the verses of the holy Quran and playing the national anthem.
Cabinet Secretary Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan conducted the programme.
President Abdul Hamid administered the swearing in to the prime minister at 3:30 pm at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban according to the section 56(3) of the constitution.
Sheikh Hasina, also the eldest daughter of the country's founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, became the prime minister for the third time.
