Happy Raksha Bandhan to all Hindu members especially dedicated to Hindu community living in Pakistan. This is probably my only favourite festival from Hindu religion/culture. What a great festival this is..........

Well! I'm not exactly the religious type.But it felt good having 2 rakhies tied on my wrist this morning and gifting those kids a Cadburys celebrations.

Rakshabandhar is equally celebrated by Hindus and Muslims in India. It is far more than offering pujas. It is about commitment of a brother towards a sister. There is hardly any puja. There are evidences in history where a hindu girl sent rakhis for a muslim brother and a muslim girl sent rakhi for the hindu brother

I am Alhamdullilah a Muslim. Rakshah bandhan is a great festival so i felt like creating a thread instead of some hindu member doing this job

can any body tell me what this festival is this........what are the ocassions and the events????

It is about a brother and sister. in the festive the sister ties a decorated thread on the hand of brother which is considered as the bond of love between brother and sister. In return the brother gives her word to protect her and love her for the lifetime and in the time of need. Brother also provides gift to the sister (i like this part very much). Sister prays for the long life and prosperity of the brother. You dont need to perform any specific rituals per se... Like my muslim frens who tie rakhi do not perform puja but pray to Allah for the long life of brother.

The best part is the sister may or may not be your blood sister but once rakhi is tied she becomes as beloved to you as real sister. Same applies for sister.
