Islam doesn't forbade us to leave our culture which is not against the teachings of Islam, I have found zero Heer Rajha like story but our elders listen this with great respect despite they are not brother and sister but lovers which shows how moderate and tolerant culture we had but we deviate from it.Ask this lady. I don't think so Islam forbade us to celebrate any cultural event which is not against teaching of Islam.
What is bad in that if we allow newer generation to enjoy with the rest of the world within the limits of our cultural and religious boundaries?
Imitation of any cultural that is not Islamic is forbidden because all non-Islamic cultural events have their origins in some pagan customs. New year does not mark any achievement or remembrance of historical event with a positive message. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is reward for fasting and extra-praying, Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the sacrifice offered by Prophet Ismaeel (Alaihi Salam). No, I don't think so...but the way it is being celebrated is objectionable and should be debated....leave it aside since it is off topic sensitive issue.
Another name for Salafism is Ahl-e-Hadith or Ahl-i-Hadith.Their doctrines have existed since Islam's inception (at least for Salafism), it's only these specifically labelled movements which came about recently.

Salafis/Ahl-i-Hadith/Deobandis strongly condemn terrorism. He is referring to salafies and ahle-hadeeth.. but unfortunately they are extreme ones and their wrong interpretations have opened doors for many illnesses in the society and terrorism is one of them.
