Hamid Mir Attacked | TTP Claims Responsibility

if this happened in karachi it could be anybody...PPP/MQM/ANP/TTP. all these parties have militant groups.

1. I am aware of that happening. TTP had not targeted Saleem Safi.

2. TTP gains nothing from targeting Hamid Mir. He is one of those people who favor negotiations over operation. TTP wanting to kill him makes not sense.

3. Hamid Mir has been a target of 'agencies' for a long time now. This is not surprising.
they planted a bomb under his car not too long ago - taliban took the responsibility

at least it was not ISI they have better ways to take him out if the want to but they don't waste time on these kind of dumbos these days

Zarvan, try to make some sense. You are making dumb & childish excuses. You go on doing that, I will not respond to you.

I know about that. But I am not aware of TTP actually having targeted him.

Hamid Mir is not dumb. His suspicion was upon 'agencies', not TTP.

at first - they had been busy to transfer his highness Musharaf - a traitor , from his palace to karachi - so had other things to worry about, so in this all holla hoop, Hamid Mir quietly slipped under the radar and reached Karachi.
every asset would be busy with Mushy's arrival and departure. so why would they spare a second to take him down.....

There are multiple angles on this.

The 'radar' you talk about is not operated by a few people. It is staffed by some of the very best.

TTP these days is seriously pissed of on Hamid Mir Mr and they give a dam when they attack some one they attack they are pathan one thing is which really good about them weather they do something good or even bad they openly admit it

Geo News is going all out right now. Interesting how this will affect the whole "patch up" attempt made by the government in the Kakul academy attendance thing.

Hamid Mir was in his program a week ago literally going all out. Using the term "bloody civilians" and so on to show that civvies have no voice or any say against anything "their" military does.Sadly, the term "he was asking for it" does seem fitting here.

Yet, I am still wary of exactly how much those who shall not be named are involved.. and am much more interested in what Hamid Mir was in Karachi for? What was he going to shoot as a video(as referred to by Geo) that might have been a pandora's box.

Poor NS, all this efforts for hair transplant are going to waste.

when journalists come on air and make comments / accusations based on unsubstantiated reports, then this kind of thing is bound to happen. he openly says that it is the army/ agencies which are causing this terrorism within Pakistan. he is an open supporter of OBL and the TTP.

Those dogs on JEW news are showing Lt General Zaheer ul Islam face as if he is a wanted man and a criminal
I suggest you tone your language down. It is never better to lose civil language in discussions.

Well, in all honestly.. this does give his highness a way of quiet escape.
Perhaps that was the plan all along? to create a diversion while the real big catch slips away.
Think about it; Musharraf seemed to getting more and more caught in the Judicial noose and was now naming collaborators(Kiyani and so on).. you cant kill Musharraf that easily with all his escorts and blame it on the TTP or BLA.. so its better to first stop one who was going to spill the beans on Musharrafs retreat.. and also provide the man accused of being a traitor a smoke screen in which to run away in.

He should be immediately replaced for being such a bad shot.....wasted three bullets.....itney pesey mein tu Hamid Mir ka iman khareda jata tha.
It was not him only few Sniper or an Anti Tank Missile or a bomb in car will do the job

FOLKS, especially "senior" folks.. Please keep your naming of individuals civil. Adding expletives really does not help your cause.. in Jist is fine but it becomes quite clear when you are losing your emotional cool.

Karachi is lawless land, if he had threat he shouldn't go to jungle first place. He was too much involve in politics. Plus openly supporting Taliban and confronting govt establishment is not a right approach. But, sad news.

That he has been, but you dont carry out such an attack in the current political environment and not even succeed unless you are truly stupid. And recent activities did support a reduction in the bolded part throughout state machinery.

So if someone talks against someone on a news show he should be executed in the middle of the street? Sounds a lot like what the TTP mandate. Really hard for me to read a lot of people ignoring that his propaganda can be countered with a bit of brains. Using idiotic TTP style policies only tacitly reassures that this country is a way is demanding the all or nothing idiot system proposed by the taliban.

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan tops the list of South Asian countries where journalists have died in the line of duty, according to the South Asia Media Commission (SAMC) report for 2013. Ten journalists died in Pakistan, followed by eight in India, three in Afghanistan and one in Bangladesh this year.

A year end media freedom roundup issued by SAMC, a media rights watchdog, from the capitals of all member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), noted with dismay that violence against media personnel continued to remain a major threat to media freedom.
