HAL Carries Ground Run Test of LSP-8 of LCA

For the first time, LCA-PG Division's production shop team was authorized to carry out the initial Engine Ground Run (EGR) on LCA(LSP-8) aircraft by National Flight Test Centre team (NFTC) and initial EGR was carried out by Shri Pradeep C Koppal on December 12,
2012.

& what will be the production rate of HAL??

3/4 years to complete 40 odd considering 12 a/c per at minimum

Don't know about the timeline, and don't expect them to stick to timelines anyway :hitwall:, but the production rate is going to be around 8 per year initially, planned to increase to 12 per year later. This is what they said in press releases a couple of years back. Not sure if they plan to stick with that.

Hopefully the Mk2 will be produced faster. Since there won't be more than 40 of Mk1, it doesn't make sense for them to increase the production rate of that line.

Actually, since the main airframe parts of MK1 and MK2 will remain the same, MK2 will benefit from the MK1 productionline, since it won't start from the begining again, but can keep producing most parts away. However, the more we change with MK2, the more delays can come in other fields. For example the engine is new and we have to see how fast the licence production of it will go on, similarly, the cockpit will be re-designed (most likely a waste of time), which again needs new external productionlines, not to forget that we still don't know the truth about either DRDOs MMR or the AESA development and it will be interesting to see, if they can keep up with HALs productionline.

Sancho, can you throw some light on the content of LSP8? What does it has, what is the pending list before we go serial production?

Didn't followed the last tests and the news about the LSPs recently, @sudhir007 on the other side is following every step very closely and should be the best source on PDF for this.

LSP 8 supposed to be come out in the middle of 2012 and to be handed over to IAF for user trails. very late indeed.
