Unfortunately even here we have seen Indian folks abuse and present fraudlent documents to get intra-company visas. In US, they are the bulk abusers of this process; and the folks who work in tanden with these companies are as guilty.

I remember when I was doing my Master's, most of the Pakistani students would discontinue their coursework and
start working full-time in a gas station illegally. Their aim was to own a gas station. That is why many gas stations are owned by Pakistanis and Indians are mainly software engineers and doctors. Of course, it is in the blood of desis (yep including the Paks) to exploit any system.

London: Gangs of Pakistani-origin men target white girls with alcohol and drugs before raping and sexually abusing them as they fail to integrate within British society because of their Asian heritage, an anti-extremism think tank has said in a new report.

The study by UK-based Quilliam group calls for greater government support to help integrate British Pakistani people into modern UK society.

“We began thinking we would debunk the media narrative that Asians are over-represented in this specific crime. But, when the final numbers came in we were alarmed and dismayed. For both of us being of Pakistani heritage, this issue is deeply personal and deeply disturbing,” said Muna Adil, one of
two authors of the report called ‘Group Based Child Sexual Exploitation: Dissecting Grooming Gangs’.

Quilliam looked at 58 cases of grooming gangs identified in the UK between 2005 and 2017, which led to 264 convictions for grooming.

They discovered that 222 of those convicted, or 84 percent, were men of Asian origin and mostly of Pakistani heritage. Only 22 were black and 18 were white with two offenders not having an identified ethnicity. The findings are in stark contrast to the fact that Asians make up only seven percent of the UK population, the study noted.

“There has been a lot of coverage of grooming gangs recently, ranging from the politically correct, who don’t want to talk about it, and the bigots who want to use it for hate. Not talking about it doesn't make the problem go away, and letting bigots hijack the debate creates further division in society. We as a society need to tackle this head-on,” noted Haras Rafiq, chief executive of Quilliam.

The study found that while girls from the Asian community were seen as “protected” because chastity was linked to “family honor”, young white women were deemed “easy targets” and “open to sexual relationships with a little persuasion”.

They also identified how men in the gangs had shared a common view of their sexual abuse, having collectively justified their behavior, according to the new study quoted in the UK media.

“The notion that certain cultures are out of bounds when it comes to criticism is not just misguided and misinformed, but often allows the most vulnerable individuals from society to continue to be victimized and abused,” the report notes.

Since 2011, groups of men mostly of Pakistani origin have been prosecuted for organized sex-grooming crimes against hundreds of girls across cities of England like Rochdale, Rotherham, and Birmingham.

Its probably the most abused visa in the entire world. He promised reform , but it has yet to come.

minimum salary of $60,000 is required , which is a joke. its the salary of a ordinary skilled worker ( a mechanic or a plumber. ) I would think most of those get higher salary as well. At this rate you are de-incentiving local population to enter the fields since this is the salary range where an entry level graduate in the skilled field would enter. you take away that job and give it to a import( and those imports are really not that skilled trust me ) .

Congress has proposed $120k as minimum I think it should be a little more than that .around $150k is what it should be. Phased in over a period of 4 years .

It has hurted locsl jobs ..no wonderman or high skill people are coming itsjust cheap labour that should have gone to Americans ..we are not talking about enginers, doctors, scholars here..its sinple office and basic programming

A lot more can be outsourced and will be. At present , with the wage threshold so low, there were many low skill jobs that were dependent on imported labour. esp for say a small company of say 30 people. it was difficult to outsource 5-10 jobs to India. and hard to find the talent locally. so they imported the labor.

You got it the other way round. H-1B is expensive for small companies. A H-1B gets paid more than local talent. If the H-1B wage cap is increased, then bigger companies will hire more local talent and small companies will no longer attract anybody else. And H-1B is out of the question for them if even bigger companies are hiring local.

The biggest advantage for companies with regards to H-1B is the fact that the employee is stuck with them for 3 to 6 years.

I suspect that most of these companies will establish foreign subsidiaries or outsource.

Jobs moving out of America is the obvious outcome.

The problem is there is a local talent crunch. America has job vacancies in STEM because they do not have talent in numbers, that's why they are importing talent in any way they can.

Outsourcing is always a problem because you train people and then after 2 years either the people leave that company or the outsource supplier starts demanding more money. So a subdiv is always a better choice but requires a management person to move to the location.

India has a massive talent surplus. The companies remain in profit even if a large section of trainees simply quit after training. In fact, getting someone to stay 2 years is extremely desirable for companies. Replacements are always available.

But if those transfers are going to use H1_B , They will have to meet salary requirements which is unlikely.

When the "American Company" contracts a outsourcing company, The American company invests in training the employees of the contractor. If the contractor employees quit, the (outsourcing )contractor company may still be in profit, but the American company has to invest in the training all over again. this results in a low skill( relatively and comparatively ) employees working for it. Always replacing employees is no company wants ( except the OUTSOURCING contractors , since they keep what they pay to outsourced employees low )..
