Gulf countries pledge $US90m to Lebanon
BEIRUT: Three Gulf countries have pledged $US90 million to help Lebanon after its prime minister said Israeli attacks turned the country into a disaster area.
According to the Arab media King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has ordered the immediate transfer of $US50 million to Lebanon, while Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have pledged $US20 million to help Lebanon after Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said Beirut needed a comprehensive plan to rush aid into the country.
Israeli attacks destroyed key infrastructure, including bridges, power stations and ports.
