If this news was true, the people would have been arrested under the sc/st atrocities act 1989 which is non bailable in nature.

All it needs is for a SC/ST to CLAIM that they were abused. ........ the onus is on the accused to prove he is innocent. Same as the rape laws in India.

Varna/Caste system is crux of Hinduism.

Similarluy varna system is integral to Hinduism. The lower castes had committed sins in previous births and their redemption lies in oppression at the hands of upper caste in this life. Get my point?

This is true all over the world, but its only in India that the law declares someone guilty and ask him to prove his innocence. Especially laws dealing with SC/ST , Rape and other forms of women abuse.

Most laws all over the world, assume someone to be innocent until proven guilty.

This IS to compensate for the issues in towns and villages. So India does MORE than any other nation to address discrimination so spare us the sermons without knowing anything about India or its ground realities.

All you know is your prejudice and you sit in judgment on anything that confirms your bias.

In addition to these lopsided laws, These Dalits in India have 50% reservations in govt. Jobs and Education while the "thugs" you speak of have been denied this opportunity due to their "caste". The children of these "thugs" have to fight for the remaining 50% seats while the children of these dalits get into medical seats even if they manage to fail in the entrance tests.

It's hardly surprising that to compensate for this lack of economic and educational opportunity to non Dalits, they demand more respect and social status. To expect that they should give up their social status too and the future of their children is the real social injustice.

The media is just paying to the gallery and bigots of all form shape and size and catering to their hate to sell more papers and make more money. They are not doing anybody any favour and certainly do not need praise for "exposing" anything apart from their own greed and callous nature of their profession.

Dalits ARE the SC category.

Open category do not care what % of the "reservation pie" you get, what matters to him is what percentage his children does not get.

So if they get to ride a horse one day in their entire life to make up for this gross injustice, then its small change by any standard.

I sincerely pray that India gets out of this curse. India would be a far progressive country. These old out date traditions and cast system is keeping India in the dark era. I dont know whats the solution but I hope they come over this soon.

If muslims had not arrived and the islamic invasion never took place, there would be no Dalits and no Jauhar.

I too had the same thought.

The only thing missing is that the thugs should have been prosecuted. But maybe the police brokered a deal , but i would have preffered arrests to put some fear in them.

Come on, there are schools in Rajasthan state where in the mid-day meals Dalit students are punished for touching the plates reserved for upper caste students.

I am not aware of any such school, and if that is true, no one sensible would support such discrimination.

But dalit outcastes are very much a reality in the rural setting, but the solution to that is not "reservation" but Hindu revival and a movement to bring back the dalits into the Hindu society as truly equal members.

Only the Indian constitution can end the "Caste" system. Though I doubt the Dalits would want you to do that end their "reservation" and right to play "Victim".

Plenty of people have been at the receiving end of hate, especially RSS workers in Karnataka and Kerala and Bengal. Most of them have died due to that hate. A good lot of them at the hands of muslims.
