well we have a great chance in Shooting and Boxing which is surpassing its own quality every yr,after the success in Beijing theit is an increased awareness about wrestling in India and their is Saina nehwal with a glimpse of hope in badminton and Somdev in tennis.I think we can get close to 5 gold this time.

Erm i wouldnt write Pakistan off? We just won gold at the Asian games, yes most of the best teams of the world right now arent in Asia but if we can win the gold in Asia then who's to say we cant win a medal atleast at the olympics?
Pakistan has traditionally also won medals in boxing and squash as well.

I think this time also China will beat Usa in medal tally. Uk will not certainly be in no 3 (England got less gold than India in CWG)...Third place will go to Australia this time, next Russia.

India can get medal in Boxing (Mary Kom, Vijendra, Suranjoy) , Archery (Dipeeka Kumari , Tarundeep Rai), Shooting (There are plenty of them), Wrestling (Sushil Kumar). Atheletics (Aswini Akkunji), Badminton (Saina Nehwal), Tenis (Doubles Bopanna-Somdev)

Neither India nor Pakistan will get medal in Hockey....Both of them are lacking much behind Australia, The netherland, Germany and Spain...

Pakistan may get a medal in Wrestling (Azhar Husain)....

^ True, and yet after winning the asian cup and with the return of veterans like Sohail Abbas and Salman Akbar the team has found new confidence. Though unlikely Pakistan still have the potential to cause an upset and win a medal. That wouldnt surprise me at all.

I think it will be a close fight between China and US in total gold medals, but in terms of total medals USA will still be on top. Russia will improve its gold medal haul to at least 24-26 golds with 77 in total. Great Britain's tally would be 16-23 golds. Four nations will compete for 5th place. These are Australia, Germany, France, and South Korea. To complete the top 10, these are the contenders (Japan, Italy, Ukraine, Netherlands, Cuba). We will see improvements on Brazil and India.
