Mumbai: Two people have been killed after a security guard at the Santacruz Air Force station in Mumbai opened fire late on Monday night. Two people killed were guards at the base and two others have been injured.

The accused who opened fire escaped from the spot but was later arrested from Goregaon. The incident took place around 1 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

It remains to be seen as to why the security guard open fired.

Defence Security cop kills two colleagues at Air Force station

Annoyed at being harassed and sidelined, an on duty Defence Security Corps constable at an Air Force station here allegedly gunned down his two colleagues, including his senior, and injured two others in the wee hours today, police said.
The incident took place at around 1.30 AM when the accused R H Yadav (49) shot dead his two colleagues - H K Singh (52) and Somdutt (53) - and left two others seriously injured after he fired seven rounds from his self-loading rifle at the Air Force station in suburban Santacruz, said Sudhir Jambhavdekar, senior inspector at Nirmal Nagar police station.

Singh was his guard commander who prepared duty charts, police said.

"Yadav was harassed by his colleagues and he was not on good terms with them. He was frustrated because of which he opened fire," Deputy Police Commissioner Namdev Chavan said.


The injured, identified as C B Thapa (46) and Bheem Singh (51), were undergoing medical treatment, police said.

Yadav was arrested from suburban Goregaon while he was trying to escape in an autorickshaw.

According to police, Yadav was aggrieved with his colleagues who used to make fun of him.

"Even after he was scheduled to do day duty, his schedule got changed to night duty, making him to lose his cool. Many a times, he expressed his dissatisfaction to his seniors but in vain. Moreover, staff members used to make fun of him for no reason," said another police official.

At about 1.30 AM, he walked into the guard rest room where he shot Singh and Somdutt in their chests, killing them on the spot, police said.

Yadav then walked into another room where he opened fire, injuring two other colleagues C B Thapa and Bheem Singh in their legs, police said.

The staff present there overpowered him. However, Yadav managed to run away from the station. He took an auto rickshaw towards northern suburbs of the city.

Police were immediately alerted and the information was relayed on the wireless phones. At one of the check points, Yadav was spotted in an autorickshaw in suburban Goregaon.

He was later handed over to Nirmal Nagar police which arrested him in the murder case.

The Defence Security Corps (DSC), previously known as Defence Department Constabulary Centre, provides security at Defence Ministry sites.

The role of Defence Security Corps is to ensure the protection and security of designated defence installations against sabotage and pilferage.

Not sure about that but with my interest in military affairs, would you rather have me posting on social issues as another Indian TT once objected to that.......or is there some rule to how many threads can an a member post on certain issues.

Even if there is, it should not be. Apart from vulgar threads and terrorist propaganda, all other threads should be allowed. Serves 2 purposes. One it does not allow any issue to be swept under the carpet. Second, its a good reflection of members' zahaniyat, unmoderated by the rules

Now you are assuming that i am objecting it to it.... "NO" I wasnt.... Infact this incident would have been posted anyone here (even i would do that).... I just pointed a coincidence.....
