Growing Russia-Pakistan ties a reality that India will have to live with

Why dont pak try to make good relationship with its future superpower neighbour(INDIA).If we get united nobody can stop us . Like uropean union is getting powerfull.
Don't want to be pain in the arse for other third world countries like the European union

Sometimes these statements from you guys just show that you use internet only for recreational purposes. Russian economy is based on Oil and Gas Industry, go search up properly before opening up the mouth and showing how illiterate you are.

What they meant was quintessentially this; India represents an important client and market for Russia and it isn't going to stick it's neck out to woo Pakistan due to the same reason. And they aren't wrong; The relationship can never take the magnitude of what Pakistan had with Washington or ever grow to a point where it poses a threat to us.

Russia is doing what benefits it, Pakistan will do the same. Russia wants its share in Afghanistan business therefore they need to talk to the biggest external stakeholder if they had done so in 70s instead of invading Afghanistan imagine what our region would look like today.

So Pakistan is the chaudry of Afghanistan now? Many nations, including India, are building inroads to trade with Afghanistan. I don't see any of them talking it over with Pakistan first. Sorry to state it but Moscow's priority with Pakistan would be on the issue of terrorism. Predictably enough, relative nuisance value is all Pakistan can bring to the table for the time being.

Who the hell give a _ to who Russia engages , no one here been against this move.

ppl who see this as a negative need to know tht relations of Russia and India has matured alot, and the negativity Indian foreign affairs department is showing ,could very well be a helping hand to push Russia closer to pakistan. i need not explain more.

the only stupidity is when Pakistanis strt there usual one over the other charade they did with America back in the day.
If Russia has assimilated anything from India, it would definitely be on how to play it out between two parties wisely.

so wisely that you are losing your long period friend, i mean brother, who fathered your ambition to destroy pakistan in 71 through KGB ;)

The world is not quite as simple as you make it out to be.

A lot of the deals that India has with Russia(like aircraft carrier and PAK-FA), there are really no other alternatives.

Some could be replaced but Russia's economy is strong now so no long term impact on it.

Also Russia has the UN veto and India would not really want to alienate Russia over a few billion dollar arm sales to Pakistan that would not threaten the numerically superior Indians anyway.

Agreed, Russia is stronger than it was. But alienating India who defense budget has been growing 20% every year would be foolish on part of Russia. Hence that is the reason why India will always be a big elephant in the room in Russia Pakistan relationship.

As regarding veto and UN, world gives a $hit about both. What counts is how much money you have got

Wow! Indians are really insecure. C'mon its nothing personal, just business. Russia is just doing business with Pakistan and vice versa. Dont worry, we really dont care much about russians anyway.

Global geo Politics change all the time, today's enemy might become friend in the future. Russia get closed to PaKistan for its presence in Afganistan and cut weapon market. There is no personal emotion in country relationship. Think this scenario, if India break apart someday in the future, without the pressure of india, will Pakistan be able to keep good relationship with china ever after. India member should not dismayed by Improvement regarding to Russia and Pakistan in terms of defense cooperation. What Indian member focused is whether enhancement of defense cooperation will dampen India defence security as Russia might sell sensitve technology to Pakistan.

Ps: china and Vietnam are brothers in 1960s. when soviet union stirred the relationship after Vietnam reunification, viets choosed to stand for Soviet and turned hostile toward china. I wish that tragedy never happen again. Wish God bless us! I'm here to deliver my concern, and sorry if any potential emotional infraction. Both China and Pakistan should take experience of the historical event for future pavement.

What you able to do is according to where you stand. China will always treat our truly brother with strong support! We never sell weapons to India while we selling Pakistan, that's the difference between China and Russia. Everybody See? Nowadays, China made weapon is no more inferior to the Russuan ones.

Indian trade needs to travel via Pakistan, and without Pakistan's co-operation; India cannot increase its trade.

Pakistan is your chaudry--without Pakistan you're locked out of Afghanistan, let alone Central Asia.

Russia and China are hoping India is wise enough to grow up and handle its affairs with neighboring states like a great power. The price of being a great power is not being petty, because nobody likes someone who is powerful AND petty.

The label of being petty should be inherited by those who claim to be the sole stakeholders of a foreign nation. As far as trade goes, why do you think India is keenly investing in Iran despite the frowns from the United States? We do not require Pakistan to provide for anything when we can entirely bypass your nation(although it would seem as the convenient option). Your brotherly nation concurs with the assessment. So yeah, my primary assertion remains that there is precious little that Pakistan can contribute to this party. Consider it as a marriage invitation; Everybody would be happy if you guys can make it but nobody is going to call off the wedding on your account.

Afghanistan is keen to promote an alternative trade route to India that bypasses Pakistan. The proposed route will pass through Iran, the Persian Gulf and the Arabian sea, said a Delhi-based diplomat from the war-torn nation. This route will connect Iran’s Chabahar port with Kandla in Gujarat. Once it is fully operational, experts say, it could also give India an easier access to energy-rich Central Asian nations.

China's far-western Xinjiang region is in favour of establishing direct trade links over land with India and Afghanistan to avoid routing trade through third party countries such as Pakistan, officials have said.

A top official of China's far-western Xinjiang region told reporters that the lack of land ports linking China to India and Afghanistan was hampering cross-border economic ties, making a case for greater connectivity.

“By having two-way trade through a third country, it is difficult for the development of two-way trade,” said Shi Dagang, Vice-Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government, speaking ahead of the start of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.

If that is the case, India is still a very poor country. Economically, it's about to collapse and cause riots.

It seems that China-Pakistan relationship is equivalent to the US-Isreal relationship.

Not exactly, Isreal Americans, lots of commercial giants and senators, have huge inflence on USA decision making. When President Obama say something, it is those behind him really means it. When comes to Pakistan and China, our relationship is based on trust and geo-strategic balance consideration.

friendship cant be bought, it is a mix of complcated regarding history, strategic need, mutual trust at civillian level. The bold part is the most important, you could tell the popularity of China in Pakistan as contra versa.

Please be more explicit, are you referring to India attitides vis-a-vis Sri Lanka or Indian attitude vis-a-vis Nepal?

As regards access via Iran, certainly by all means.

Transport your goods via road to the docks, but don't forget to arrange contracts with the shipping companies and stevedores, and ensure that adequate insurance is in place to deal with delays caused by pirates and the conflict between Iran and most of the rest of the sane world.

If you should happen to make it to the Gulf, please avoid the burnt out vessels that have been used to block access, the navies of the Gulf states and the NATO alliance countries who're not too happy that you're engaged in trade with an enemy state, and the mines planted by your Iranian clergy allies which will litter the route.

In the event that you survive all of the above, and are able to pass on the increased costs to your generous central asian trading partners; you'll then have to pay once again to unload your goods and have them transported thousands of miles by road to Central Asia through lands full of non-Shia native Iranian ethnicities who're less than happy about the pictures of Khomeini waving graciously, that you've painted on your vehicle to express your belief in 'secular India-theocratic Shia entity of Iran bhai-bhai'.
