Greek Mirage 2000 lock onto Turkish F-16 in the Aegean! – “I got him!” says the pilot (VIDEO)

The Greek Navy +AF have cancelled a planned grand exercise ranging all over the Aegean and Mediterranean seas due to the Coronavirus..

In the meantime, the Turkish UAVs are going for grand tours all across Cyprus, Crete etc. Not to mention a full fledged Naval + air mobilization all across the Eastern Mediterranean to get prepared for being "hot" in the neighboring Libyan fronts at a moment's notice...

The Greek AF flies 2 F-16s for each Turkish UAV in the region...

A nice explanation below:

Nice footage to fire up the naive ones among us and calling this a Dogfight is pathetic.

*Pathetic dogfight skills by the Turkish pilot resulted in a pathetic dogfight. Corrected it for you.

It's true the TAF showed and accustomed us to much better skills in the past, but maybe this time is over.

Wake me up when Greeks have courage to push the fire button.

They did in 1996 to be exact when a Greek Mirage 2000 fired an R.550 Magic II missile and shot down a Turkish F16D resulting in the death of one of the pilot,Nail Erdoğan. The opposite is yet to happen.

Turkish F-16D was unarmed in 1996

and Turkey lost only 1 pilot ( Nail Erdogan )
on the other hand Greece lost 3 Fighter Jet Pilots ( Nikos Sialmas , Kostas Iliakis , Giorgos Baltadoros ) and 3 Helicopter Officers ( Christodoulos Karathanasis, Panagiotis Vlahakos, and Ektoras Gialopsos) during dogfight or conflict

..... Greek Pilots dont know how to flight or something else ?

Nice to see you so exited... but watch the video again and tell me if there were any serious defensive manuevers?
Such videos are cheap and good that you take it serious, because real aerial warfare looks different. That is 2/3 steps below calling it a real dogfight.

Nail Erdoğan was unarmed..

So what is the purpose of your pathtic comment? You want revealed footage here. I also advise you to check the accidents that occured over the Aegean. HAF takes this too serious they make a too big fuss about it. And you take the bait, congrats.

The biggest threat that Greeks should challenge is their own incompetency. They have a bad crash and collision record. They should firstly solve the problems their pilots have, then think about copping against Turkish pilots.

Greek pilot crushed during NATO exercise and killed 10 crew.

During the dogfight in Aegean, Greek pilot collided on Turkish aircraft and greek pilot lost his life.

Greek Mirage crushed on sea.

During the dogfight maneuveing, Greek F-16 crushed on sea while The pilot was trying to escape.

Greek apache crushed

that F-16 is not doing any evasive maneuvers in the first video, am i missing something?

.
Mirage has him by the balls. Who lets the enemy pilot sit om their six for so long

Delta wing easily one the best dogfighters out there.

thanks for sharing
Yo wtf do you think are we supposed to shot down every Greek plane in the Aegean? It's not like we are on war, let's see if that Greeks have the courage to fire that missile or not...

TAF is pathetic, HAF won prize in a competition where 3 countires participated hurr durr.

Let the dogs bark, TAF showed it competence in Cyprus, Iraq, Syria, Bosnia, Libya etc. It was already declared dead after the coup but slapped those in the face just a couple months ago, how short peoples memories are...

This is a clear propoganda from greek side to boost their morale. Only a 13 year old will get excited to these. Im sure TuAf has many videos like this

Turkish side love frightening Greeks whenever they catched the opportunity !
Greek foreign minister !

Greek defense minister !

Greek old defense minister wanted to approach the islands that they claim their own but Turkish ships didn't allow them to approach.

Aerial interception doesn’t necessarily mean that there was a dogfight
There are indeed dogfights that happen in the aegean sea but I doubt there was one during a visit by top greek leadership(in this case the defense ministry I think last year or in 2018 greeks complained when it was their PM)
Since on twitter(and probably on other social media too) there’s widespread greek hysteria and paranoia about turks and greekcity times is full of nazi diaspora greek “journalists” it’s safe to say that this is pathetic propaganda
As one member already told us about accidents in the aegean sea do you really think that both Greece and Turkey would allow a dogfight(that could go wrong if a pilot from one’s airforce overreacts and then the inevitable response follows) to happen during visit by senior leaders???
Most likely the greek fighters were airborne when turkish F-16s were near the greek helicopters after awhile they went back to Turkey’s coast but the greeks decided to lock on from behind (during retreat) like a true cowards they are and the response was turkish lock on greek helicopter(their defense minister was inside) so any stupid move would have cost them losing their top military official(s)

.
The F16 was not suited for a dogfight according to ex f16 pilot. Looks like our Airforce don't take seriously Greece.:-)

.
We got BVRs in the 2000s... Turkey, China and multinational exercises with NATO states did help us train.
With Turkey we also have a pilot exchange programme. Where we have pilots flying with each others airforces and annual Jinnah & Ataturk series.
